"foxes are good luck"

i saw the tracks of a 3-legged fox called lucky. in the white mountains of new hampshire. near mt. washington. the field naturalists there know him, and his tracks, pretty well. there are a few [un]urban legends about the loss of his front leg. apparently there's not even a stump. there's just no leg. and they've checked out his scat--full
