You have to go and see eprimacol's absolutely fantastic artwork. If you don't know her talent already, you're going to be blown away by the quality and abundance of the pieces she gifted us with for this fic. Seeing your beautiful art helped me keep on working when this fic grew and grew far beyond the small thing I had first imagined. It's been a pleasure working with you all along.

Notes : Written for spn_cinema 2016. I've been a huge fan of Christian Bale for many years and that's why I saw the 3:10 to Yuma 2007 very slashy remake in which he starred next to Russell Crowe and Ben Foster. I liked the movie a lot, especially thanks to the cracking chemistry between Bale and Crowe. I later did a fake movie poster (for some kind of challenge at all_spn), replacing the original actors with Jensen in the part of Crowe's Ben Wade, the slick and dangerous outlaw, and Jared as Christian Bale's Dan Evans, the small rancher desperate enough to agree for money to take Wade to the train in Yuma, despite the very serious threat of Wade's gang trying to stop them by whatever means necessary. This was all I needed to begin to imagine a new remake, starring this time the Winchester brothers.
A few details about the story that you can choose to ignore :
- I stuck pretty close to the way the story is unfolding in the movie, even used a few direct quotes, but the heroes' motivations are vastly different in the fic. I added or developed a few characters, and the amount of people being killed off during the course of the story is a tad smaller in my version.
- Sam and Madison's son is modeled on Colin Ford's young Sam Winchester and he's called Junior here.
- Dean is 36, Sam 32, Adam 25 and Junior 14.
- First Mate I.P. Freely was Balthazar's name on the Titanic.
- Although there's no precise date given and you can place the story any time you'd like, I wanted it to happen earlier than in the movie, a few years only after the Civil War, which meant ignoring the fact that the real Bisbee wasn't founded before 1880. Same thing with Contention, which appeared in the 1880's and was abandoned less than ten years later.
- For those who might recognize the name, Don Flack (played by Eddie Cahill) is a character taken out of CSI: NY, a cop who had a love affair with fellow detective Jessica Angell played by Emmanuelle Vaugier, who was Madison in Supernatural episode 217 Heart, hence the idea to get them together in this fic when I was looking for another love interest for Madison. It's not a crossover since Flack is only mentioned, to set him up in case I ever write a sequel and need him.
