i agree with you on underwear, but stamps cost what they do as a government tax. you're paying for the mail to be sent, not for the small sticky piece of paper.
batteries, well, who knows how much a certain amount of electricity infused into an item should cost. it's different than paying just for the electricity in an electric bill.
