Challenge 005.
The prompt: Wooden Horse (Caspar Hauser's Song) by Suzanne Vega. (lyrics below).
The challenge: Listen to the song, interpret the lyrics the way you want and let your imagination run wild. This is a team challenge but slightly different from what's usually done.
The writer and the artist work separately at the beginning. They do not share their interpretation of the song or exchange plot/graphic ideas. They just agree on the main character(s). Halfway through the challenge, they give each other a glimpse of what they have done. (Nb: a glimpse means an extract for the fic, a cut of the collage or wallpaper for the graphic. It of course implies the graphic must have some meaning). The writer has to take into account the graphic within his/her fic and vice-versa for the artist - which means your work will be constructed in two steps and be based on two influences, the song and your partner. Each will only see the final result of the fic/graphic at the end.
Details:
» Keep a "before the glimpse" and "after the glimpse" version of the fic/graphic. Post both. It's okay if the "before the glimpse" fic/graphic isn't finished, obviously.
» When posting, tell us/show us what was "the glimpse" for the fic and the graphic. (It'd also be interesting if the writer and the artist could both explain the process they went through, see how inspiration works for different people, learn how their work evolved after "the glimpse".)
Fics: Any genre, any pairing, any rating. Free as a bird. No drabbles.
Graphics: one collage or one wallpaper. Digital or original art, it's up to you. That's it.
