Saw you on 'The Gardener' forum... nobudsnoglory March 14 2009, 02:27:40 UTC
Pleased to meet you! I saw your to see your bonsais - it is a subject that interests me, but I haven't tried it out yet. Do you grow yours from rooted cuttings, or seeds? Or do you start with a small plant and keep it small?

I was wondering, were there any books you'd recommend for a beginner to bonsai, or did you find most of your information on the internet?

My own blog is a pretty basic blog on gardening around Vancouver and horticulture related stuff. Feel free to check it out! (I am trying to find other gardener friends online, to inspire me to try out new projects in my very small - but very packed - balcony garden :))

My blog is a personal one too. So, there will life stories, issues, and woes on it too. So, if you don't mind that, I would love to add you! Your blog sounds interesting.

Also about the bonsai, I've started mine from young, small trees, and then shape and trim them myself. I'm going to let them grow a little bit so that I can get the branches how I like them. The next thing I want to try is from seed.

There are a lot of good books out there. I don't think I have any specific recommendations.

I noticed your post in the gardening community and then hopped over here and was incredibly impressed by your Tae Kwon Do abilities and more. I hope you don't mind the add.

Thank you. =-)

What sort of stuff are you into? Are you a fellow plant nerd as well? lol.

Are you in martial arts? I will have been with this school for seven years this year, and I will have been teaching for five.

I'm definitely a fellow plant person. :) :)
I used to kill all plants, but over time learned what best suited our yard and garden areas, and I've found my favorite types of plants are succulents and ferns, as well as different types of maple trees. I do much better with outdoor gardening than indoor gardening though, and our cat has helped me in killing quite a few indoor plants I tried to keep, so I stick to outdoor gardening now. It's more difficult during the winter months, but we are getting back into the best time of year now, so I'm excited about gardening more and more again this upcoming season. :)

I used to take kickboxing lessons (but have since moved strictly to yoga, and have taught relaxation yoga for several years in my spare time). My kid's were into Tae Kwon Do, but dropped out after their Orange belts. I dropped after the Yellow belt (sad I know). My sister got as far as her brown belt.

I'm impressed with your focus on martial arts. It definitely takes a lot of dedication. ;D

I use to kill all plants too, but my boy friend taught me a few basic tricks, and I have furthered my knowledge since then. =-D My favorites are orchids, peace lilies (ones in that family too), carnivorous plants, bonsai, herbs, and african violets. My favorite flowers are daffodils, and the only succulents I really like are aloe vera and lithops. ^.^

Yoga is a lot of fun. I like power yoga though, or strength yoga. Something that helps my flexibility and makes me sweat. I love the ending meditation too. I get so relaxed sometimes I feel like I'm floating and there is nothing bad in the world.

Tae kwon do is awesome. I teach an adapted class for special needs kids with autism, down's syndrom, etc. It has become my second home. =-)
