I'm just curious, but...

How many of you on my flist can read 日本語? And I don't mean like "read/look at pictures to guess" the raw scans of manga to get the gist of it.

I used to occasionally post a bilingual entry in my LJ, but haven't done so in a long while, but now that I have a few new friends, I thought I'd ask.

ちょっと聞いてみたくなっただけ・・・。

だって、日本語めったに使わない、というより、使えない (

question, 愚問かもしれません

I'm about a 0.1 on a scale of 1-10. (I know that 日本語 is Nihongo [Japanese language]) but not much else unless I use a site like Jim Breen's to "cheat".

I can read most of Jump, but that's as far as I go :/ I only know about 200 kanji, and even then I often need furigana.

Oh, OK. That's more than most of my students.

Haha, well, I'm also only good for reading, not speaking or writing. I know just enough to read kid-level manga, and that's about it :/

Did you study it at college or on your own?
