Thank you so much for recommending this - I'm a huge Miyazaki fan since I grew up watching his films... ah Totoro - brings back memories X)... I'll definitely try to track it down

I agree with you on dubs, it just ruins the atmosphere of the films when you hear these mismatched voices, they are yet to realise and appreciate the role of a proper seiyu. I prefer to stick to the subtitles...

Miyazaki made his name first in weekly anime series with his easily recognizable drawing style and high quality animated sequences. Among them, this series erally stood out and I remember my parents enjoying it as well. I hope you enjoy it, too. ^_^

It's a shame that we in North America don't have high quality voice actors. Regular actors who do TVs and movies act with their whole body -- expressions and all -- which is a luxury one won't have when acting just with one's voice. They seem to fail to see that point... Fox release of Totoro, however, was amazing in their matching of the voices and I approved that dub-job as much as what they did with that of Samurai Champloo.

I grew up watching Totoro with the subs so I guess I have been conditioned to only watch anime with the Japanese track and English subs - I find it distracting and just hilarious when they use a strong American accent for a Japanese character XD
