The sun's still not out, but the boys have gone to freeze theirs off. I'm going to be a wimp and ride the exercise bike in the basement.

We had the window of opportunity that was maybe 2 hours. Now, we are having another thunder/rain storm passing over us. I just got inside in time for the wind to really pick up... Oh, well, we can use the precipitation for sure. XD

Stephanie looks fantastic as Madam Red!! The colour red looks great on her, out of curiosity, how do you get that light brown effect around her nose?

Thank you!!!

The pencil sketch was scanned, and I "painted" over it with the Corel Painter's "watercolor round" brush to give the color. I "painted" cream first, then put the "brown" over.

When I do these in a cleaned out version, I usually mainly use "soft chalk" throughout for most of the coloring.

I just love how the brown on her nose looks so natural and how it fades towards the outer edges...

Do you prefer/use to actually do artwork by hand or on computer - or both?

I was actually pleasantly surprised, when I got my tablet, just how similar digital drawing still is to pencil/pen on paper. I hand draw everything on the tablet, using Corel Painter. I don't use any line making tools that create perfect curves and straight lines. Everything that I've done so far could have been done on paper with traditional media. What I like about digital art is that it affords me the all-powerful "undo" function, so I don't waste my time or supply when a mistake is made. And having "layers" to work with, instead of single canvas, makes things so much easier.

I still do all base drawing/initial sketch with a pencil on paper because I like the resistance of the pencil lead against the paper surface. Stylus on tablet is too smooth.
