Help? Spam on LJ.

So, provided I would like to start using this LJ again...

HOW DO I GET RID OF THE SPAMMERS ON MY POSTS? Seriously, I never saw it in LJ before. Not on my previous journals, not on anyone´s elses. Now there is such a lot of comments with porntube in my old posts that it makes me want to puke.
Can I stop this from happening somehow?

There is a Spam Protection, of sorts, that LJ has under Privacy Settings. HOWEVER, it's executed kinda awkwardly: what it does is automatically screen any comments that contain a link that's not whitelisted (approved sites) by LJ. So the porn will be mostly hidden, but so will any comments your friends make that link to sites that aren't on LJ's whitelist. I have mine set to force CAPTCHA on anonymous commenters (not that CAPTCHA is bullet-proof either, especially since a lot of these spammers register for short-lived LJs to get past it) as well.

isn't there the option of allowing only friends to comment?

It's been ages since I have used LJ for my own posting, so I am not sure.

Also, too lazy to check right now. But I suppose if only friends were allowed to reply, spammers who of course are not your friends should be limited.

And, you could still go friends only.

But I don´t want to only allow friends to comment because I might want to do this writing contest community and want poeple to post opinions. :/
