Weekendness

So today technically is mine and Zach's two year anniversary. So we celebrated this weekend. I got the weekend off from work and Alexi stayed with her aunts and went to the circus. We left for Schamburg Saturday morning during the storm. Brilliant. But there were no problems and we only passed maybe 7 cars and tractor-trailer trucks in the ditch. Zach had put the directions in his gmail docs account so we could get them on his phone, which turned out to be a very good idea. We got to our hotel with no problems and then went to America's 5th largest mall. It was not bad. There was a distinct expensive side and a cheap side. One side had Nordstrum and shops like that, and on the other side was clairs and JC Penny's and H&M. There was even a Lego store of Awesomeness. We got Zach swim trunks and myself a new tankini because my swim suit was old and crapy. We then got to the Main aspect of the night:

MEDIEVAL TIMES!!!!

When we first bought the tickets there was a free upgrade for one to the royalty package. I wasn't sure what exactly was all involved but took it anyway. So we got there an hour and fifteen mins before the show, looked around, got our crowns and knight to root for, looking in the museum of torture. Then it was time to be seated. We had our table number as being table 3, so we thought that meant 3rd row. But when our knight's group got sent in to be seated, we were lead down to the front row!!!! Royalty package gave us guaranteed 1st through 3rd row seating on a first come bases. HEHHEHEHE!!! So we got front row, Zach got our knight to toss me one of his flowers, the food was good for mass cooked everyone gets the same thing dinner and the show was awesome!!
We had half a chicken each, ribs, half a potato, tomato soup (dragons blood soup, garlic bread and an apple tart. We also had no utensils as this was the Middle ages. That was interesting.
The show was very good, the horses well trained the jousting loud, and the swords sparked when they struck each other. We also got two pictures of ourselves "framed" each and a DVD and commemorative program. and flag to cheer on our knight. It was so much fun.
The next day we drove around in the general direction of Chicago, ate at an IHOP for breakfast (both anniversaries we ate at an IHOP), and then using my google maps on my phone, found our way to downtown Chicago. We parked (expensive!!), but got into the art museum for free thanks to Free February. We didn't stay there long, but I got to see Van Gogh's self portraite, Monet's paintings, a bunch of ancient Chinese and Japanese statues, Indian Gods and Renaissance paintings.
We then had Pelmeni at the Russian Tea house just off Michigan on Adams. MMM so tasty.

Then was the Odyssey to Galena where Zach's friend lives. I swear it took us about four hours driving on Hwy 20. Yay google maps. There Matt and his girlfriend took us out to eat at a french and German restaurant. It was good. Then, while Zach and Matt played a video game, we watched Madagascar, and played with their pug, Potato. He had to be on a leash because was so excited so he kept jumping up on people, bad puppy manors. We would wait until he was calm, then bend down to pet him, but only if he didn't play snap our our hands.
We finally left there at 11:30pm, and drove the long way home. It was just before 2 when we got home. I used all my Con determination not to fall asleep on the ride home so Zach and I could talk and keep him awake.

It was all in all a very fun weekend with lots of happy chances to help us celebrate two years together in happiness. :-D
