That's very interesting.

We are finding out more and more about the original population densities on the American continents prior to the arrive of Columbus, and how they heavily managed their landscapes. (some successfully, others not so much - human use of land is always an ongoing experiment)

Those huge herds of Bison were thought to exist because of the lack of human pressure, but maybe not.
