I totally think it's a "women's naked bodies are for public viewing, men's are not" kind of thing.

The thing I was kind of disappointed with is there were no women pictured who wore bras. Or, at least, there were no women whose bras changed their silhouettes. It's a funny thing to have found disappointing! But considering how many women wear bras that actually do change their silhouettes, it was like, "Oh, boo, I don't actually get to see *normal* women in this study. Everyone has perky boobs."

It's a funny marker of marker of "normal," but for me it's totally there. And then I felt kind of alienated.

But, then, maybe women w/o perky breasts are too scared to model.

I noticed the perky boob thing too! I do recall there being at least one lady who demonstrated a little more gravity, but yeah, for the most part these were very young, very naturally-filled-out women.

Hadn't registered the silhouettes, that's really interesting. Mostly I was just mildly impressed by the precise registration of the faces in the before and after pics.

also, it's interesting that you referred it to a "study." that's totally how it felt, but then again, a study of what? almost seems like just a vehicle for this dude to demonstrate whatever technique he'd developed for getting such precise registration between the befores and afters.

After stewing on #1 for a bit, I ended up concluding that it's both a half-assed attempt at art and a half-assed attempt at sociology (insert anatomical joke here).

Well it seemed to me that there were plenty of not-perky breasts ... just not exactly "buxom" breasts, perhaps.

I was ... I don't know ... somehow gratified, I guess? to see one woman with a c-section scar. I suppose it made me feel included, to use your word.

But you're right. They were all slender, slender ladies. Very "normal" looking men, I think. Maybe the guy just couldn't find enough non-skinny women comfortable or happy enough with their bodies to take off their clothes? I know I would be hard pressed to take off my clothes for a camera at this time in my life.

As someone who was told I was fat my entire life by teasing boys in the neigborhood.... Once I found out I was allergic to everything, and started getting my diet in order and healing my gut, I lost a lot of weight(about 45 pounds between arriving at CSF and leaving Colorado). I remember being in my advisor's office, just bullshitting about who knows what, and something about my family came up, and she asked what my brother looks like, "He's like, an inch shorter than I am, but he is really skinny." And she laughed, and made a comment about how I was a pretty skinny boy myself. And to be honest, up to that moment, I hadn't noticed. And somedays(read- often), I still have the mental body image of the kid who was teased and called fat all the time. AND I WASNT EVEN THAT FAT TO BE BEGIN WITH! But yah, it's something I am aware of in my own life ( ... )
