So, Rivulet wrote a wonderful story called
Last Act for angst bingo. With her permission, I wrote on about it. So, you need to read Rivulet's first before this one. I hope you enjoy!
Alex just waited, not certain what to do as he waited when he heard the door open and shut. He glanced up to see a young man who gave him a slight smile. A young woman stood next to him. She put her fingers to her lips and Alex looked confused. She held out a coin and his eyes widened as he saw it. He looked back up at her. “Are you crazy?”
The young man chuckled. “I thought you might recognize it,” he said.
“Do you know what this is?” He demanded. The young man nodded.
“Yep,” he said. “The first red power coin.”
“How did you get this?!” He demanded. The girl grinned.
“That’s not important,” she said, holding something out. It shifted into a sword. “Take this.”
He did so and she nodded. “Good. We can shift the powers to you now.”
“I don’t understand,” Alex said. The young man grinned.
“It’s simple,” he said. “Jason Scott and Thomas Oliver talked with Wes Collins and Eric Myers. The latter two mentioned the slight feelings of discontent over Time Force itself. Myers especially. So, they decided to do something about it. Hold the coin, please.”
Alex did as he was told as the girl took over. “So, Thomas and Jason decided to do something about it, but they knew they’d be watched by something that kept track of history. So, they asked a young Hayley Ziktor for help in recreating that sword.”
The sword did his job and the power transferred. Alex could hear footsteps racing toward the door. The young man gave him a sad smile. “Don’t worry about your friends. They’ll be fine,” he promised.
“Who are you?” Alex demanded. The girl shared her companion’s look.
“Russ Bulkomeier and Jenny Skullovitch,” she answered. “Our families have been keeping a hold of them since Tommy and Jason gave them to our ancestors 1,000 years ago. Said they were the only two they could trust.”
“Get going,” Russ said. “Meet up with your friends later. Fix things.”
“I’m not…” he started and Jenny glared at him.
“Don’t. You can fix this. We can’t. I know we never were two, but once a Ranger, always a Ranger, Alex. Good luck.” she said. She reached over before Alex could stop her and pushed the button. Alex’s eyes widened as he felt the transportation kicked in. He saw the door burst open and the two others rush toward them, knowing they weren’t going to make it. He landed in a place he’d never seen and a young man smiling at him.
“I’m Peter Del Valle,” he said. “Glad you made it.”
“The other two…” Alex started and Peter shook his head.
“We wanted a better plan, but they insisted this was the best way,” Peter said. He looked at the ground. “They were always insistent on it. Said it was their family’s job to take care of it. It was their dream to be the two to do it.”
Alex was quiet for a minute. Men and women had stopped what they were doing and looked over. A robotic dog lifted its head over in his direction, obviously having been upgraded several times. Four worn bionic raptors glanced over from another direction.
“Where am I?” He asked and Peter smiled.
“Welcome to the resistance,” he said. “Now, maybe we can start to make a difference.”
