Whomever decided that it would be a fun prank to steal my clothes in the night and leave me with such a ridiculous costume, let it be known-- [ A deep breath, as he attempts to calm down, but it doesn't work so well. Someone hasn't even had tea yet. ] I am not amused

You can refuse to wear it, you know.

I have nothing else available. I cannot even leave my hut! [ A frustrated groan from off-camera, as looking around the cot yielded nothing. ]

[And she smiles]
Come on. It can't be that bad.

[ Sitting down on the edge of his dis-shelved cot facing the table, the red clump of what was a "hat" crumpled up next to him. His hands are clasped together and his elbows are on his knees as he slouches, rather tired of all this running about. ] It was unwelcome.

[As worthless as such talents may be, she sounds amused. She can't remember the last time she saw Guilford so disgruntled. Not that she is at all happy with the apparel that was chosen for her by the fae. They even picked out matching undergarments. :| It is for that reason that she is careful to keep the feed focused only on her face.
And, taking a gander at his outfit, which has now been made visible, her amusement quickly gives way to laughter.
Said between laughs when she is able to catch her breath.] Dear... God... what... is... what is that?

Siiigh. ] Cornelia, please.
[ Frowning a bit. Is she really laughing? This is just... ] Judging from the ensemble, it is suppose to make me appear as a minstrel. [ He'll just... let that irony sink in. ]

I... I... [S-So-difficult-to-talk. XD] ...mmn... forgive me.
[She's laughing so hard that the communication device shifts downward slightly, giving him a nice view of bare shoulders and ample cleavage. She, of course, doesn't notice. But she does wipe at the corner of one eye as the laughter somewhat subsides.]
I think... you... [Trying very hard to erase the trace of another chuckle from her voice.] ...you... look... just fine.

Clearing his throat. ] It appears that I am not the only one who has had their wardrobe ransacked.
[ Guilford isn't embarrassed by her figure, and there is no judgement in his tone. But he knows that she would never pick something like that out for herself, willingly. ] Is that dress Clovis' doing, or were you left with that this morning, as well?

She wants to make a comment about his manners, but she doesn't know how to go about it. Not under these circumstances. She's just laughed in his face, yes, but there was once a time, a time that she is much more familiar with, when he would have taken note of her state of dress quietly and said nothing about it.
There is a slight huff of discontent that is released through her nose and, again, they return to a momentary uncomfortable silence.]
I sincerely doubt that my brother had the patience or skill to confiscate the garments of nearly everyone in Demeleier. Nor did he have enough hours to construct that many articles of clothing in such a short period of time. [But if she finds out otherwise, he will not escape her wrath unscathed.] It is my belief that our supposed caretakers had a hand in the foolishness that took place while we were ( ... )

If that is indeed the case, I do wonder what they might ask in return for such a "favor". [ The logic concerning Clovis did a lot to dull his irritation, but the alternative did not exactly please him, either. ]
In either case, I am sure he is thrilled with this outcome.

No doubt you are correct. This is his element, the sort of absurdity he lives for. Has he provided you with a schedule?
[She's still not looking at him.] What time do you... play?

[ Now he tilts the device so he can best see the screen. He has been shown the side of her face an awful lot lately, and it bothers him.
But his tone remains casual. ] I believe the performances will begin at sunset, after the main courses have been cleared away.
[ Her interest was curious, but she likely just wished to know how late she can arrive with an excuse, and how soon she could leave. Such affairs never interested her, that he ever noticed. That wedding was a special occasion; this was just some random get-together. ]

That sounds reasonable enough. [As much as she would appreciate a good meal, she will likely not attend until the later part of the evening anyway. Hopefully there will be food enough for latecomers. She's already lost several pounds due to an inconsistent diet. And she would rather not cut back on the strength enhancement training she's been exercising daily ( ... )

[ But he pushes that thought aside, because now he has to deal with the implications in her words. Perhaps he was looking too deeply into them for her approval, but she did say she would be there, specifically, before he started playing.
There are few ways to interpret that, and the corner of his mouth tugs up, faintly. ] I will look forward to your attendance, Cornelia. I think we have practiced well enough for this.
[ Then it was his turn to avert his gaze a moment, since he has a question of his own. ] Will you be arriving with an escort? [ He doubted it; or maybe he just wanted to doubt it. It isn't as if he thought she would ever go for that. Any time that they had ever arrived together at an event, it was always a formality -- as "the Princess and her Knight", and ( ... )

She cannot, for the life of her, understand why he would be asking her something like that. Perhaps that's why her stomach seems to be tightening into tiny knots. Her tongue feels dry, but she forces it to cooperate, even as her brain seemingly fails to connect with the words she speaks.]
Why... do you ask?
