Oh dear

I am making this entry readable to Stephen as well because Zacharias is sleeping in his bed for the next few days. So that Kevin Entwhistle doesn't find out, Stephen is hexing his curtains closed and telling him his bed is infested with Doxies. Zacharias has that family heirloom from back in December, which the Ministry returned to him and which makes him invisible, you know, so he can come and go as he pleases as long as he doesn't let Kevin see the curtains opening and closing. Michael and Terry will know because Stephen will tell them, but the Doxies is the story he's telling everyone else. He'll sleep in the common room until Zacharias leaves.

Zacharias showed us the part of his entry addressed to you. I will not apologise for him as while he had good intentions, he was very unkind, and I can understand why Wayne and Ernie got upset, actually.

But I would just like to remind you that Zacharias does have a good heart and he is really very fond of you all and cares for you all deeply - yes, even you two, Wayne and Hannah. He considers you to be a family of a sorts. Both he and I have an understanding. We came from homes with only one parent, you know, and in that situation the remaining parent has to do the task of two and give the child enough care and love as two would so that the child grows up feeling loved and protected. Like him, I only had my father for quite some time, but I was very lucky. He knew he couldn't shut himself away otherwise I would suffer, so he showed me enough love for two parents, and he still talks to me often of my mother so that I do not forget her. He says that if he remember and speak of her, then she will never truly leave us.

Zacharias did not have that though. His father did not even show him enough love for one parent. Maybe he was a obviously caring man to start with, and maybe his wife's death took him to a place that he couldn't return from. But Zacharias grew up in a very cold house, and if it wasn't for his aunt, who is also Stephen's mother, getting him and Stephen to play together a lot, he would be much worse. He is very bad with people because of that, as you know, and you have all been kind to treat him well and befriend him in the manner that you have. He is very lucky to be in Hufflepuff, and I really cannot think of a better house for someone like him. He will remember that eventually.

I think that right now he is already starting to feel guilty, which is why he asked me if he can stay here. He is a good boy and knows when he did wrong, so he will apologise eventually, but in the meantime, you know, Stephen and I are here to talk to anyone and negotiate if you need us.
