Yes, although I have reminded him several times that I have no animal empathy. [ The man can deal with horses, to a point. Small woodland creatures from foreign worlds are flat-out impossible to comprehend. ]
[ Brief furrow of his brow. Context clues, what are they? ] It is Miss Viola I was searching for and... I do not know. [ Guilford glances away, eyes seeking Arco but not finding him. ] After such a length of time, my conclusion is that she has left Demeleier. [ Said without the usual calm delivery of such an observation. ]
[Small and his wings are fluttering as he hovers.]
Yep! Pepper loves animals. She's really good at listening to them and helping them out. Sometimes it doesn't work, though. Like this cat tried to eat me and Sugar but I scared it away with my Sun Magic, so we didn't get hurt too badly.
Where have you looked? [It's not that he doubts him, but that Demeleier suddenly seems so big when you have to comb all of it for one person. There's an unspoken suggestion that he'd help if asked in his tone.]
[ Though he does not feel the need to have his work checked, he lists off the paths he has taken and the clearings he has scoured. All without so much of a trace of Viola's presence. ]
--and that is why I have returned. My attention is once more needed here in the village.
[ There's another question within the first, one she doesn't quite care to vocalize alongside it to start as it's really not a pleasant one all things considered. Then again, it has been a while since she's heard from Viola, present explainable absence or none, and it concerns her. That she doesn't appear to be within earshot to inform Guilford of just what Arco is saying... ] Then Viola is...?
[ Guilford, now having made it to his croft, nods to the camera. ] I am afraid so. I have been unable to find so much as a trace of her presence, beyond the items left behind in her abode and her companion. [ Who has probably leapt off his back and is somewhere else by now. Finding no trace, however, is as much good news as it is bad. It means she is home and, having found no remnants, means the possibility of her coming to harm and being dragged off into the woods was also unlikely (not impossible, though). ]
[ She's quiet for a long moment, checking her emotions and considering her words. If there was anyone she had been looking forward to talking to in the aftermath of the recent incident, it had been Viola, after all. ]
I see. [ And then, with a little sigh and a lot more certainty, as though it is indisputable fact -- ] She'll be back then. I'm not sure how soon, but she will definitely be back.
[ Pausing then, she wonders if she shouldn't bring Guilford up to speed, but Souji... there's a tiny knit in her brow, then the feed cuts -- ]
[ -- and begins again, only Valeria seems that much more tired when the feed resumes. Leaning back in her seat, her shoulders move just slightly for the attention she's giving the back of Geri's ears of screen. Where does she even begin...? Almost with a light sigh, apparently. ]
Mr. Guilford, I think there's something you should know. [ About events that transpired in the time you were gone, about Adachi, about Souji, about so many things. Too many things and she can't decide where one thing ends and the next begins, so she hesitates, eventually sighing again. As together as she's made herself seem in the aftermath... ]

Too bad Pepper isn't here. She'd know what he's saying for sure!

And, perhaps it is a trick of the camera, but this boy seems awfully... small.
No matter. ] Does your acquaintance have a fondness for animals?

Guilford pauses to hold the device a small distance away, examining the feed critically. ] ... ah. I see.

[He seems to think for a while, his gaze lowered.]
... She's gone, isn't she?
