Strategy: Civilization (particularly IV; particularly Fall From Heaven II) RPG: Fallout 3, Mass Effect, NWN(1&2), KTOR(1&2) RTS: Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, StarCraft MMORPG: Undecided. For game play and graphics I liked Age of Conan, but it seemed to thin out in content pretty quick. I've mostly been disappointed with the whole genre. Eve Online seems addictive (but to much like work). I'm looking forward to World of Darkness Online, or maybe something sugary sweet like AION. FPS: No opinion. MUSH: Pandemonium (and it's later descendants) MUD: IgorMUD BBS Door Games: Trade Wars
MUSHes aren't still around in any meaningful sense.
I want to do some online Roleplaying, and have some hope that eventually it'll be possible for the genre. SecondLife has been disappointing, and other MMORPGs have been much more MUD than MUSH. That said, I'm going to attempt an RP legion with Aion.
I've recently discovered web versions of BBS door games are suitable for my web-enabled smart phone. So I'm playing some Archmage: The Reincarnation, when I have idle time while commuting.
I've been a big fan of the Silent Hill series of games. I also highly enjoyed Kingdom Hearts I and II. Killer 7 had gorgeous visuals, and an intriguing concept, but some (not me) found it frustrating because you're running on rails (where you go is predetermined).
Of course I played the hell out of the Guitar Hero and Rock Band stuff, but about four months ago I found myself played out on it. I've started thinking about getting Rock Band 2, but I'm not there yet. I love those games for the performance aspect, and I particularly liked Rock Band because it's *more* fun to play with others, rather than more frustrating like most multi-player video games.
I've heard amazing things about Shadow of the Collosus, but I had to give my copy away because I couldn't get a hang of the controls.
I really want to get my hands on Portal and Fallout 3, but haven't done so yet.
But my favorite game of all time is still Centipede.
