The weekend in Review.

Aug 17, 2009 17:28

Well it was a good weekend, went to the mall, did some rock star level damage, saw some prawns, took some pictures and then went to sleep.

So I went to the mall to get my hair cut.
It was a short wait, when asked what I want done, I said I wanted her to do something that will take off a few years, the hairstylist giggled.
After the haircut, I went out to the parking lot to leave, and as I was pulling out, I bumped into a car that was in my blindspot.
He was driving a white Benz I was in the Black Audi. We bumped bumpers, he was a young guy, pissed that his white Benz was messed up, it really wasn't too bad.
I had a bit of a smudge on my car, his was a bit more of a smudge and he said his bumper separated a little.
He wanted to call the cops to have a report done, I was ok with that. I'm the at fault driver, but there was little or no damage done to my car.
As his friend that was with him said "The Audi won".
So that was the start of the weekend.

Saturday was room demo day.
I'll upload the pictures to the flickr site later today/tonight. But the_smith_e and J and D came over to help me.  J did lunch for us and some electrical work.
Apparently whomever put the lights and fan in back in 1975 (there were penciled notes on the under boards saying who was there and when they put up the lower ceiling) didn't know dick about electricity. There was at least one bare hanging ground wire in the fan electrical box. So once all that nasty was taken care of, D, E and I started to tear down the ceiling.
We all had tyvex suits on, with eye protection and breathing masks/respirators, by the time we took the first break we were covered in black mold spore.
We did about 3 hours of work in that room, started to clean up and then we had enough, E was over heating, I was over heating and D was over heating.
They showered and said their goodbyes and I began to get ready to take my shower too. Then there was a knock on my door.

deboranter Came by to help with the demo, but we ended before she got thier so she waited for me to shower and we hit the movies.
If you haven't seen "District 9", go see it. It is really really good.  Much better than Transformers 2 and G.I. Joe.  Hell, it is a good plotted movie with good special effects.
Now really how long has it been since you saw a GOOD movie with GOOD special effects that made you happy you spent your 10$ and 2 hours?
Make up some time with "District 9".
Afterward  we had some dinner and parted ways, but it was a good cap off to a hard working, stressful day.

It was suggested by J in a phone call on Sunday that I take some pictures of the room demo and call the insurance company and have them open a claim.
He felt (and I do now also) that this could be covered under Homeowners because it is a black mold situation, one that will need to be disclosed before I can sell the place.
So it can't hurt.
Talked to the insurance company this morning and they are going to open the claim and come out and check it out.
Bummer is that the fan that I had going in their to keep a negative pressure in the room so the nasty does not get out, fell during the night, it was running when I came in this morning, but it would not start back up after I turned it off to pick it up.  I think it was too hot, I'll find out when I get home.

So things are going ok, I'm a little stressed about the work that need to be done in the room, it will take a lot of time and effort, but it will be worth it in the end I think.
But it is going to take a bit longer than I expected it to, much longer.
