Yes the energy was horrible. There was no room for anything. I didn't get around the tables. I was DONE by the end of the day, which surprised me because that event usually energizes and inspires me. I even bickered with Giovanni because we both weren't getting to the car fast enough because we kept getting interrupted trying to get out of there.

Someone lost their temper on my behalf because they didn't know who I was, which is weird on both accounts.

Lydia kept drapping herself on us, and needing to be held. The energy got to her too.

Sorry if I kept touching you. You seemed to pick up on the energy too and I needed the kindred spirt. Sorry if it was too forward, I don't usally drape over you like a 9 year old in public.

I will never go to an event in that building ever again. Coronation or not!

You can hug and cuddle with me any time you want. You're a positive rock in an uncertain ocean, and I am proud to call you my friend. I'm sorry the day got to you too. Normally I don't do fainting violet, but you know what it was like in there.

You know, it was almost like avoiding a poltergeist.
After I left that room the first time, I literally could not go back in until Jhone asked me near the end of the day,

In the dressing room when I arrived, there was a lot of consternation at the fact that the A&S had to share the room with armoured combat. The hall already was acoustically challenging. I get that fighting attracts more people, they were trying to make it go with the A&S theme, etc. but (I think) Gaerwen said "Really? The one event where A&S is the focus, and we have to compete with bashing and crashing in the same hall?" There was a lot of near-yelling just to be heard over the fighting. Also, that was a rather expensive site fee for what we got in a hall. So you were not the only one bothered by the vibe ( ... )

I was wondering why you left so suddenly. Most of the shouting I remember happening (though I did go off and judge a different item while waiting for them to cycle through an entry or two, so I may have missed that part) was more confusion about what was happening and the noise from the fighting (apparently that was because particular people complained they wanted fighting- there wasn't going to be any originally). It was definitely not the best A&S I've been to- I mainly stayed since I knew Jhone and Keja needed the help and I would have felt bad if I hadn't judged- this year I had mostly beginners/newish people in my stack of sheets and it wouldn't have been fair to them for me to not do it.
I'm pretty sure I know who the person was who demanded the sword be moved- if I'm correct as to who it was, they were like that the ENTIRE day, even at 9am when everyone was setting up.

I don't mind the concept of fighting at A&S, though...oddly....Tiberius does (he says it interferes with his A&S time. Isn't he cute?)
I think in many ways it encourages the fighters to look at fighting from a different perspective, as more of an art, and anything that goes into prettying up that part of our hobby is a good thing in my mind.

However, the fighting environment isn't really conducive to the quieter arts pursuits, and makes judging and conversing with entrants difficult.

What I find telling/disheartening/upsetting is that one person had so much influence on so many moods of the day.

I don't mind fighting at A&S either, and the tourney organizers worked hard to tie it in to the A&S theme.. We've had it before, but always in its own area, and never in a big echo-y hall like that. In a case such as this one, A&S for once should take precedence.

As for person-who-shall-remain-nameless, "vortex of cranky" works. You know how in the Fifth Element, the Great Evil of blackness just sucks up all of the light? That. Well, maybe exaggerating a leetle...

Given the repercussions of that person's actions, no...you're really not exaggerating.....
