Except Paul Reubens's personal misfortunes have nothing to do with the content of said television show. I haven't seen any of Jeffrey Jones's movies get rerated since his child porn ordeal...none of the Who albums got Parental Advisory stickers, did they?
Pee-Wee's Playhouse is pretty dang clean (except for a slight innuendo in one or two episodes), while Roseanne can get quite raunchy, even throwing a few actual swear words around every now and then (which I'm pretty sure isn't TV-G).
Nevermind that the style of humor in Roseanne is actively denigrating to those present, and sets a standard of belittling others for entertainment rather than drawing humor out of socially awkward scenarios and subtly introducing problem solving techniques and morality... Roseanne in some ways can really send a bad message. PeeWee just sends the message that life is really like a kaleidoscope on acid running through a UT2k4 map.
