You sound like a very methodical reader. I also think that online information and libraries are great resources. Libraries do look down on marking up their books, therefore I can see how note taking would have to take another for library books.

I also have trouble understanding Shakespeare due because of the Old English language they used in the 16th century. I should try to get some of the voice recorded e-books and listen to them because I also prefer to study in a quiet environment with minimal distractions, and I think I could benefit greatly from these e-books you are talking about.
