The Letter

For lack of anything better to post, here's the text of the letter that I left with Maya's toys, books and clothes. Even the court mediators say that if Mapi finds it she's almost sure to throw it straight out. It's plain and unedited, but for whatever it's worth, here it is for "posterity

Jim, this breaks my heart to read it and I feel your heart breaking. It's so sweet and loving and beautiful. I hope and pray that somehow, some way, Mapi will hold on it and to your gifts and that Maya will someday receive them.

Thank you. It's rough and unshaped, and I was aimiang my language at an as-yet un-formed pre-teen who might someday find the message, but the chance of it actually being transmitted is reaaly quite low.

I've arrived safe and sound int hte U.S. and am receiveing the royal treatment from my friend at UCLA: thus the typos and so on as they appear -- I'm fairly drunk but will be up at the ass-crack of dawn for a conference tomorrow. All the appurtenances of being a grad student without the pressure or (uh... too drunk ) etc. etc.)
