And your leine and angel wing sounds So Much like what I wore all through high school and college. I still have a blue cotton flannel tunic (with gores and gussets!) that I sleep in at pennsic.
(btw, that fighter totally asked you to help cuz you're cute, not just cuz your garb was pretty)

I agree completely with you about taking the steps to be more and more authentic. When people stop me now and tell me I look like someone from one of the paintings, I walk on air for the rest of the event.
I just wish more people would go for the authentic look instead of the bear minimum.

I'd made T-tunics for myself and my son and we wore them with pj pants and sandals. I knew enough to make the tunics out of linen.
No feast gear to speak of, mundane tents, ring belts.
Now I'm an apprentice. My green belt has no ring :D, my tent is canvas, and I have garb from Roman to Tudor in varying degrees of quality and authenticity.
Part of me wishes I'd found the SCA 20 years ago. The rest of me is far too busy having a good time.
Edit: I now have feast gear -- it came from Eadric. And Miguel supplies me with Cool Tools for fiber stuff.
