Character Survey Redux

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Warren has a pretty unique body! Because of his mutant physiology, he not only has those two big wings of his (which are both 8 feet long, making a total span of 16 feet), but a unique composition to help him fly. He has zero percent body fat (only having the minimal amount of fat to keep his organs in place/to survive) and a greater muscular build than the average man to help support his peak physical attributes. So Warren is thin, but very toned. He also has extremely broad shoulders and strong pectoral muscles.

2. How old is he?
Because of Marvel's sliding timescale and their lack of desire to age their characters, Warren hasn't hit 30 yet. He's 28 years old and does not have a canon birthday, so I chose August 17 for him.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
He carries himself very well. He's graceful and light on his feet, but most definitely has a bit of swagger in his step. A lot of women canonically find the very sight of him to be irresistible.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Very fit and always in shape. The peak physical attributes that I mentioned earlier include: peak human strength, speed, reflexes, endurance, and agility. He's also very flexible and has a regenerative healing factor. When in his Archangel form, however, Warren has even more enhanced strength and speed (can reach flight speeds of Mach 1, the speed of sound). He's also extra durable and can withstand massive explosions, extreme heat, and has fast enough reflexes to deflect bullets.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
Again, graceful. Especially in flight, Warren has some incredible maneuverability. In his Archangel form, he is much more tense and ready to lash out at any moment's notice.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
He's been described as being very attractive. He's a known playboy, and has appeared on numerous magazines in his canon, including Time, People, and Fortune Magazine (as well as countless tabloids). Warren knows that he is attractive and can be very vain at times. He's stated that he prefers using high quality salon products, so obviously goes out of his way to upkeep his appearance. It's also very rare for him to be seen with even a five o'clock shadow. When he's in his blue form, however, Warren has been shown many times to be repulsed by his appearances, and has even broke a ton of mirrors.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
In his regular form he is light, clear, smooth--pretty ideal, to be honest. Blue form is obviously...bluer.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
Blonde, shaggy, soft, and very well taken care of. Again, he prefers that it be taken care of by professionals and high quality product. I imagine that he goes to get it touched up every 6-7 weeks consistently.

9. What color are his eyes?
Light blue.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
Do his wings count? That's the only real noteworthy thing in his normal form. In Warren's blue form, it varies. He has been shown to be able to shapeshift right into his Horseman 'uniform' complete with techno-organic metal protruding from various parts of his body--specifically his hands and fingers that he uses like claws or talons. Of course, his skin also turns blue and his eyes usually turn a dark, angry red colour. Other times, he has been shown in more transitional forms where only his wings have mutated, or that he switches his skin colour without the 'uniform' aspect. I guess it depends just how pissed off he is and how much control he gives himself over it.

11. What are his chief tension centers?
Mmmm probably headaches? Fighting mentally with his Archangel persona can be very stressful for him sometimes. Otherwise, there aren't many since he does have a high pain tolerance along with his healing factor.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
Varied. He's got a lot of dressy clothes, but also a lot of designer items for casual wear and athletics as well. Warren is particular and keeps track of what's 'in' and popular. This definitely is part of that vanity of his again.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
Yes, since most have to be tailored just to fit him properly!

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
Sometimes. He likes to look his best at all times, but obviously can't wear a suit and tie everywhere. Since he plays a lot of sports and works out a lot, he needs to dress down; in canon, he usually wears his X-Men uniform to train, but other times has dropped right down to his briefs or just a small pair of shorts. Funnily enough, for as much as Warren likes his designer threads, he also likes not wearing much at all when he can get away with it--especially shirts. It's just easier to get around that way with his wings!
Finally, he does love a good party, bar or club, and dining out. In informal venues, he still manages to look sharp.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Haha. Well in canon he's done all of the above and more than once. Since it's 2011 now, though, I think his more modern preference would be boxer-briefs. But that could easily fluctuate depending on his mood. Easily.

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
Not incredibly deep, but low in a sensual way. Smooth. There probably isn't too much left of his Long Island accent these days since he's lived all over the world, but I imagine that every once in an awhile it would creep up on him for certain words, or perhaps if he was in an intense conversation. In his Archangel form, Warren's voice is definitely deeper, raspy, and almost mechanical sounding.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
Warren talks easily and evenly. He has no problem communicating or interacting with anyone at all--including people he loves and people he hates. He doesn't curse a lot, but lets the occasional word slip for emphasis or if he's caught off guard in battle. Archangel can be very condescending, uncaring and dismissive. Though he, too, speaks rather evenly, I do imagine it sounds angrier and tenser. A little more dramatic, as well.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
Again, the accent wouldn't be too distinct or overbearing at all. Contractions are used when and where they can be, normally, but no missing g's off the ends of words, for example (for him it's "nothing" and not "nothin'").He is also a slang user, but doesn't overdo it.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
English and Spanish fluently. It's also possible that he may know some Japanese.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
No. He only switches languages if he is talking to locals in areas who aren't speaking English.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
As long as it isn't a huge public speaking thing--like a press conference or large formal gathering? Then his is good, yes. Warren will say what's on his mind or say what he thinks needs to be said and call it a day. In front of a crowd, however, he is definitely more hesitant.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
See above. He's usually eloquent, but a large crowd may make him inarticulate.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
Socially smart and business-smart. He does have a college degree and is very good in economics and related subjects. He's also very good at thinking outside of the box and having successful ideas. However, science is a very weak point for him. Academically, Warren did have a hard time sitting in the classroom for long periods; he has a short attention span and usually won't bother with things that don't interest him at all.

It should also be noted that he knows technology very well, as he built his very own Danger Room in Cavern-X.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
Warren is usually pretty impulsive unless it has something to do with his money and businesses. He takes that pretty seriously and will sit on his thoughts for a few days before making big choices.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Intuitive, definitely. He's a risk taker and will try things even if they are against the odds. At one point, I would say that he was more of an idealistic man. Since the return of Archangel in current canon, however, Warren has shown a more practical approach. A good example of this would be his decision to carry on with X-Force post-Second Coming and his reasoning for doing so.

4. What kind of education has the character had?
Bachelor's Degree in business from UCLA.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
And they said they made this meme less repetitive. Pfft. Business, economics, flight, aerial combat, firearms. These days he's into the wetworks stuff, as well.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Definitely an extrovert. At one point in his younger years he was famous just for being a socialite/heir; I would go out on a limb and say he was the MU's version of Paris Hilton. He even had his own E! True Hollywood Story.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Oh my lawd, does he ever have mood swings. If mood swings were a possible default mood for someone, they would be Warren's. He's seriously all of the above things, mostly thanks to be a spoiled brat AND having a split personality.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
I think it depends? He tries to be intuitive when he meets new people, and he meets them all the time, so he has to have a good judge of character (though there have been mistakes). Since joining up with X-Force, however, I'd say that his suspicious nature has certainly increased.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
He really does both. I know that's vague, but Warren's split down the middle in that sense. As an X-Man, he's at his best when he's a supporting character and reacting to people, however, there's been numerous times when he's taken charge, led teams and squads, and ventured out on his own. As a business man, he's more likely to act first.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
Resisting the urge to make a great pun... Fight. Not many things over the years have sent him off running or hiding, and he's good at punching people in the face.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Well he's very dear friends with Hank McCoy and Bobby Drake, so he'd definitely have to at least tolerate it? LOL I think he's more inclined to embrace his sense of humour when he's with his friends; how Warren acts can usually be determined by who he is around at the time. For example, he'll act more smooth and sauve in front of a pretty lady he's never met. Friendly and flirty to a good female friend. Brag and act more immature when he's with his close male friends. Etc.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
Oh geez, this is complicated.

OKAY. From an actual canon standpoint? I know that he sees a therapist very regularly (off-panel, and referenced) and that he was suffering from Depression for a long time.

HOWEVER. He also suffers a lot of symptoms of mental disorders without ever having been diagnosed on panel? Disassociation, auditory hallucination, nightmares, suicidal history (was saved once just milliseconds before he offed himself), split personality/identity disturbances, instability in emotions (and very impulsive, as a result), intense anger outbursts, instability in his interpersonal relationships...which, of course, some of these symptoms aren't so alarming on their own but the fact that they are all displayed together make them an issue.

As for how he deals with this stuff? Dates and sex to get his mind off of things. Flying. Busting mirrors and getting naked. Sometimes he deals with it by hurting other people...therefore, not well at all.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
1) Manifesting his mutant powers
2) Becoming an X-Man
3) Being abducted and experimented on by Apocalypse to become the Horseman of Death

14. What does he fear?
Losing control of himself--or losing himself, entirely.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
To protect the mutant race and to preserve it for as long as possible.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
That he is not so far away from going off of his rocker completely; that he's a willing assassin; that he leads an entire band of assassins.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
It was very private, sometimes tense, a little lonely, but very privileged. Warren's parents gave him far more than he ever asked them for, and encouraged him to do many things. However, they never got very personal with him and tended to leave him alone or with the butler more often than not until he was sent away to boarding school. They were on good terms, but Warren often felt like he never really knew them like he should. When they both died, however, he was completely devastated.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
No siblings! Just a few cousins that he's never interacted with on panel.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
He is very close to his mother's sister, Mimi. She's an adventurer and an explorer and connects with Warren in the sense that they can never stay in the same place too long and they're fond of seeing the world and meeting people.
For obvious reasons, he hates his father's brother, Burt. He was the one who was responsible for the deaths of Warren's parents.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
All of the X-Men, really. He financially supports them, they are his closest friends, the people he turns to, talks to, and fights for. Warren referred to them as his family and the people who make his situation with Archangel worthwhile, as he has a way to protect them from the evilest of all people.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Each member of the Original Five X-Men have been his best or closest friends at different points in his life. Bobby has been the one who's been with him on team's consistently, with and without the other X-Men. Jean was someone he started off as being in love with, but eventually that developed into a very deep friendship. During the Mutant Massacre and his Horsemen troubles, it was Jean who spent the most time with him and offered him the most support. Scott was a very close friend that came with a lot of butting heads, but respect always won out in the end. Finally, Hank was good for a loyal and confidential ear when Warren needed it.

6. Does he have other close friends?
Yes, of course. Psylocke is notable not only as a lover but as someone who has been through a lot of crazy shit with him. Warren did everything in his power to keep her alive and safe after Sabretooth had eviscerated her, while she returned the favour later when his Archangel persona re-manifested. In recent years, Wolverine has also become a good friend to Warren. Warren also got along well with Colossus following the Dark Phoenix Saga, as well as Havok and Polaris since their introduction. I would also include Deadpool (recent), Marrow, Nightcrawler (Casey/Austen era), and Storm (despite a few minor disagreements in the past, she is someone he respects very highly).

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
Yes and no! Making friends on a very short-term or superficial level comes very easily to Warren, as he's easily able to slather on a good looking smile and some charm. However, I think making very deep and long term connections is very difficult for him...as he's a rather difficult person to endure at times. The mood swings and the arrogance play a big role in that, as does Warren's tendency to keep big things to himself. He's very private.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
His friends ARE his family more than his family is, so that's a very easy answer.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
Never been married, divorced, or widowed--though his most serious relationship ended when she was murdered by Cameron Hodge.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
Warren's currently involved with his off-and-on again girlfriend, Psylocke. (In canon)

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
First crush that we know of in canon is Candy Southern. The latest would be Ms. Braddock.

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
Well he's pretty versatile when it comes to tastes! He's dated women of every colour, many backgrounds, and different body types. What they all do have in common, however, is that they were all very talented and very intelligent women. And with maybe one exception, all were very capable and more powerful than he is. So someone strong, smart, beautiful, capable, and determined.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
No children in the main Marvel Universe. He did date a woman (Charlotte) with a son (Timmy) for quite some time, though, and spent a lot of time with him. I think at one point Warren would have very much liked to have had children some day, but now the Horseman problems have put a strain on that. Kids aren't even in the furthest of his thoughts.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
1) Apocalypse
2) Cameron Hodge
3) William Stryker
4) Fantomex

Friendly rivals include Cyclops and Wolverine.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
I like to think that Warren is probably a 1; not completely heterosexual but definitely heteroromantic. His open love for promiscuity and sex over the years, to me, subtly suggests that he would be open to experimenting. He's hot and he knows it and would take attention from anyone. Some people would probably also point out more stereotypical aspects of Warren's personality and behaviour that could contribute to this (vanity, style, being somewhat effimate), but I can't consider that to be concrete evidence at all.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
Veeeeeeery much so. He's had many partners and has burned a lot of bridges with women because of his escapades. He's got a reputation for not only his promiscuous habits but also for being well endowed. As such, he's always been rather arrogant about his exploits and completely shameless.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
Turn-ons: dominant partners; confidence; thrill seekers; intelligence; open mindedness.

Turn-offs: people who don't respect consent boundaries, as he's been a victim before-- It's a big thing.

Kinks: I imagine a bit of mutant!power play if it's applicable with that particular partner (aka mutant/superhuman powers being used in creative ways); sexy outfits and/or roleplaying; exhibitionism; public sex; blindfolds; restraints; anal (I believe he wouldn't be against pegging either, for that matter); oral sex; different positions.

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
He's a Leo, which is a fire sign. i would say he fits it well because he does have most of the strong traits of the Leo (confident, ambitious, generous, loyal, and encouraging) and definitely has the Leo's weak traits (pretentious, melodramatic, stubborn and vain). Leo's do love to have control (Warren's a CEO) and they love having a partner who admires and appreciates them. They also fall in love very easily and have a hard time making it last successfully (see: Jean, Candy, Paige, and Charlotte). They are also very sensitive and feel ALL THE FEELINGS which Warren does pretty much always.

So, yeah, his sign fits him to a tee! And is why I chose it c:

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
Warren is Episcopalian (Christian). It used to be a big part of his life (the boarding school he went to was a religious one and often occupied by ministers), but now he seems to have lapsed just a little. Just recently he got annoyed by a woman asking for God's forgiveness in making her a newly manifested mutant, and he made a comment about God being very unhelpful...and it did seem rather bitter.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
It's changed a lot over time, but right now his personal moral code is very grey. He is fiercely protective and will do anything at any cost to protect his family and his people--whether it be spending all of his money on Utopia, weapons, and security or banding with X-Force to hunt down the terrorists who are threatening the mutant race. He's got no regrets whatsoever about killing those people.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
They annoy him, but he tolerates them---at least the ones that differ from his moral code. He does not argue with people about them or even bring it up. Spiritual beliefs are obviously different and he is very tolerant with other religions and cultures that are different from his own. When someone's beliefs are different to a point where they are harming or killing someone else, however, he is not at all tolerant about it and will physically fight them over it. To him, it's justified.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
Due to mutant oppression he is both pretty tolerant of people and very wary of them. Humans are people who he has had good personal relationships with in the past, but he has the tendency to point out very vocally that they will never understand him or people like him, and what they go through everyday. It mostly seems like he doesn't want them to try and understand either.

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
Pfft, rich. Very rich. Billionaire rich.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
Popular, famous, well known socialite. The media's been all over him for most of his life.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
He lives on Utopia currently, but he also owns his own base called Cavern-X. Both of these places are lived in a lot, but Cavern-X would count more as his castle considering all of the restored history and special belongings he keeps there. He also has houses in Spain, Switzerland, France, Long Island, Colorado, New Mexico, and Hawaii. He owns penthouses in Manhattan, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Uhm. ALL THE THINGS. Seriously, he's got a complex.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
He is an inherited CEO of an international corporation that owns and operates several smaller businesses and organizations. His company has been tied to newspaper and media companies, automobile production companies, oil, property management, diamonds, and (at one time) a brothel. But that was totally an accident! :x

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
Flying, basketball, baseball, dancing, clubbing, dating, training, fighting, sparring, collecting.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
Since he has a healing factor, no potential body fat, and an enhanced metabolism, he eats like a bottomless pit.
