The best gift you can give her is to listen completely, without trying to make her feel better for a while.
People are uncomfortable around people who are grieving. They always say stuff like, "he's in a better place," and what they're really saying is "quit looking so sad, it's hard to be around you." To really listen, and acknowledge the depth of someone's loss and pain, is a huge, huge gift.
Thats pretty much what I did for her today. I picked her daughter up and brought her to school for her and all I did was give her a big long hug and told her that if she needs *anything* I was there for her.
Her boyfriend and I had a long talk today...he has been the "superman" and just needed to let it out so I listened.
I just feel helpless...I know how much it hurts to lose a child and I hate to see anyone I care about going through that pain.
It's nice to be around =) I finally put an update out there for everyone =)
