My favorite part:

i read a speach by president clinton (given just the other week) where he advocated a policy of making friends with other countries, and letting the other countries (and the citizens of other countries) know that they matter to us (the government and people of the US)
and of course, there is the corollary of making that be the case.
and perhaps we wouldn't have such a problem convincing people that we were right IF WE WERE RIGHT.

to me, there is something infinitely more frightening about "undercover operations" than all out gun warfare.
