do you realize that what happened to me along my way in my story was that i cared for the world. and then later, i stopped caring about anything at all.

While I know that what I am about to say might be a blunt assessment of what you've gone through, I feel it's necessary to come up with some comment to show that I am following this story.
You stopped caring for the world so that you could care about yourself. And eventually you stopped caring for yourself and in turn, cared for nothing at all.
It's a downward progression. You had to make an effort not to care about the world. You conditioned yourself to feel nothing for any one thing but yourself. And since you were already on this path of not caring, you just applied that conditioning to the next thing that stood in your way, you. How ironic that this conditioning was meant to bring about self awareness when what it inevitably brought was self loathing.

i stopped caring for myself,
long before i stopped caring about the world.
and that's all distant history.
but,
i've been thinking.
there's this story, you see
in my past before any of you knew me
that almost no one i know now
knows anything
about
.
