It's a really great book. I devoured the entire thing today. I couldn't put it down. It puts into words most of the things I have come to realize since being blown up in Samarra in June. Check out my memories, if you like. "So, Why Are We In So Much Pain" is a chronological listing of entries as I "figured things out" here in Iraq. My only hope is that others can glean some sort of... understanding from them and apply them, in part or in whole, to there own lives.

There are more excerpts I plan on posting eventually, however, I strongly recommend purchasing both The Tao of Pooh and The Te of Piglet.

How do you feel about the war? I mean, do you hate Bush for making you fight? Or do you believe there's a cause?

That's a really long post that I don't really want to get into right now.

One day... later... when I'm far, far away from this and Iraq is just a headline on CNN, I'll post my views of all of this, but until then, there is a lot I'd rather keep to myself under the circumstances.

Just to... you know... build the anticipation a little

That's a pretty flippant and glancing way to view it, most likely for the sole reason of critisizing it. You could choose to view it that way, or you could view it as a way of looking at life and not constantly fretting over what lies just over the horizon. It could be telling you to relax a little, because there is always tomorrow. It could,/i> be telling you that, to everything there is a season. It could be telling you that true happiness doesn't lie in Maxim magazine or in all of the places that society tells you that happiness lies, but, that to be happy, you must first understand yourself and your actions and to know and accept that you are failable... and that that is okay. It could be telling you to just be. Quit bitching, quite whining, quite worrying and just be. Enjoy a sunset every now and then.
