I do the same "type stuff out and erase it" thing all the time. I've been reacquainted with my pal depression lately too. Must be in the Fall air or something.
Are you against the idea of antidepressants? I don't know...could help. But if you just take medication and don't do any work on the things that caused the depression, that's not so great. Still, if you're so weighed down by depression that you can't function...it's better than nothing. By functioning, I mean doing regular stuff you have to do - going to classes, studying, showering, getting out of bed, etc.
And I don't really advise the "ignore all problems" plan. People that are constantly doing that can sometimes get so good at it that they become idiots, so clueless about who they are and what life is really like. Trust me, it's better to be more in tune and be angry and bitchy than it is to be a denial zombie.
Also, people that feel awful but don't do anything about it make me sad. :(
