Before your time, I was a speaker at Cornerstone Festival (in the early 90's.) The Festival is held at a beautiful location. The wife and I miss Cornerstone and Jesus People very much. We had to leave because we converted to Orthodoxy, you see.

pardon my ignorance, but why did converting to orthodoxy require you to leave?

It's not as bad as it sounds. Jesus People, USA (juh-poo-zah for short) is a community of people that live together, but they are also a congregation. For us to stay would have introduced a great deal of spiritual discord that would have caused a great deal of grief and probably the sundering of the community. A Very Bad Thing ( ... )

ah, okay. that makes sense. :)

if i end up going to seminary and becoming ordained, i'll never be allowed to preach at my home church X) i love them, and i grew up with them, but if i started trying to speak there, it would cause a lot of problems. i'd rather not do that. they're my spiritual family, even if we argue about who does what at the family reunions.

i think it's really cool that you wanted to leave on amiable terms, and made it clear that you thought that the work they were doing was good.

We can't really help with equipment, but if you want to camp, you could pitch a tent next to us. We're ... amarriedcoupleoldenoughtobeyourparents
... so it would be a safe place to hang. And we could have a community hot dog roast. Buncha hippies!!!!

Also, check with joabtheteacher. He and Severina are thinking about coming and they live next door to you. You might could carpool with them.

I do hope you're feeling better and sorry you have insomnia again. This always seems to help you -- ::offers cybersushi.

With the camping ... if you could borrow a tent, and have a sleeping bag, we can provide the cooler and cookware -- we have a gehawnking cooler and we're snagging a friend's campstove.

OMG! I just thought of the ultimate! We are going to have to get into a DnD or GURPS game at cornerstone! Just because it will scroll a lot of nurds! Bwahahahahahahahah a... aa .. cough .. ahem ... phlegm in throat ... ahem ... cough. Hack. needcoffeenow

There's nothing wrong with dandelions. I like the little guys more than diamonds, anyway. And they're not weeds. Weeds are in the eye of the beholder.

Damn straight. The leaves make a very spicy salad. The flowers make a mighty fine wine. Toast the roots, grind and brew, and you've got a palatable coffee. The leaves are high in iron, and vitamins A and C. Bees favor dandelions, and together, they make a high-class honey.

All diamonds do is sit there and be hard.
