i've been sick with a nasty head cold for about a week now. on the upshot, i have been given a medicine that permits me to function during the day AND sleep at night (up until yesterday, the two activities were proving to be mutually exclusive

You're right about the new part.

As I've been employed working with Bibles for the past year now, I've found that I very much prefer more literal translations. With that preference in mind, I think the ESV is the best out of the more recent crop. Even if the making of it was a wee bit political.
