Oddly enough, that scenario you decribed sounds very romantic to me.

Book swaps are my life! I LOVE stuff like that but they happen so rarely in my area.

It sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you. Good luck with that.

Thanks darling. Curse you for getting into college early like half the world! You're a lucky duckling... I know that you won't post where you're going, and I respect that, but I can't help but think how cool it'd be if we ended up at the same college -- I'd be making friends with people during orientation and there'd be a Leila from NYC and I'd just be like, Ahhhhhello!

How cool would that be? You're Tess from Mass. right? (Just in case:)

Macalester as in Macalester in Minnesota where I live, darling?! Much much luck getting in there; Macalester and Carleton are the most competitive schools in the state. (crosses fingers for all applications)

Aaaack yes, I won't get in though. I have this terrible, paralyzing fear that I'm not going to get into any of my schools. AAAAGHGHGH!

(If I do end up at Macalester, though, I'll visit you my darling!)

Yay for visiting me! I've got to look into Macalester a bit more closely because my parents are already going crazy about college applications for next year and narrowing down schools and ... gah. (is terrified at the thought)

And, darling, I'm sure that all the schools you're applying to will love you! (hugs)

Sounds romantic to me, mostly because of its plain weirdness ;)

Nice haul of books. You must have read Heller already, right? You know that after Catch-22 he was so afraid of disappointing his readers that he didn't publish another book for 30 years? To anyone reading Catch-22, it's obvious that he only had the one excellent book in him. Like Steinbeck or Harper Lee, he was a good writer who just happened to catch on to something great.

Anyway, good luck with all that work *laughs maniacally that I don't have to do it*

Take care :)

The essays sound interesting. :) Are they awful to write or okay? *shivers* I'm getting worried. I have to start college-searching soon.

Do tell how the books are. :) And that sounds very romantic. Hmm.
