[ There's a new guy who's been guided to his House, but it's obvious he's not settled in, going by the heavy sword he continues to wear on his back and the way he's hanging back near the kitchen with his arms folded, looking a little...no, no, not lost.

But he's sure not eating, and when Snow falls dur hurr he starts, his head snapping tense before he realizes what happened and just...sighs, his expression taking on a much more exasperated look. What, did he get adopted by the house of hooligans? Might explain why he's got such a lousy power, supposedly.'

He'd ignore them--he does turn his head away--but something about them picks at his attention and he finds himself half-listening to a few of their interactions before it clicks. ]

Hey. [ Not much for preamble, he doesn't even walk over, just lifts his voice and looks at them ] You two know each other?

[ Kind of hard to miss a guy hanging around wearing a 'sword' nearly as big as he is. Lightning's definitely keeping a quiet eye on him even before he finally chooses to speak out, and she already figures he must have shown up even more recently than most, given his stance and... well, to be honest, she's fairly certain she'd notice someone like that in the House before now for sure. As mentioned: kind of hard to miss. ]

... Yeah?

[ Really, sir? Does she look like the kind of lady who would start hanging out with a guy like this after only a few days? ]

[The voice captures Snow's attention as well, and he glances over... only to have what he can see of that giant fucking sword capture even more of his attention.

And he thought Sis's gunblade was scary! (Then again, Lightning could wield a stick and it would still be menacing.)]

Hooo. [Snow lets out an impressed noise, craning his neck a little in an attempt to see the sword better.] Guess you don't have to know anyone with a beast like that!

[ Really, miss? Are you expecting him to be a good judge of character? 'Cause he's so not.

He shrugs to Lightning, one-sided. ] Wasn't expecting that.

[ He'd half-convinced himself being ripped from his world was punishment, that or he was completely, totally off his rocker. Both ideas seemed less justified with these two; they were taken together and he didn't think his mind would make up such a...familiar interaction. Hard to say if it was a good relationship, but it was a relationship nonetheless.

Snow's comment though gets a subtle swelling of the chest, the hint of a smirk. That's right, he doesn't need to know anyone here. Doesn't need anyone. He'll manage on his own...until I can get back... ] It's called the Buster sword. Had it ever since I joined SOLDIER.

[ And even if he's lost the raw strength--he still has the pride. Still has the toughness. Everything will be fine. ]

[ Newsflash: Usually, people hang out with people they get along with. Ragtagness is not generally a natural occurrence. Surprising, I know.

Lightning rolls her eyes at the exchange between the two men, but then ignores Cloud in order to throw Snow a comment, halfway between observation and chastisement. ]

It's not practical. Size of a weapon doesn't matter if you can't even use it.

[Wow, Lightning. Good thing Snow's an awkward possibly virginal moron; anyone else probably would have made a stupid double entrende comment about that...

At any rate. He's still fascinated by that sword. So much that the comment about being "surprised" Lightning would know him flies over his head.] I dunno much about swords, but if that guy knows what he's doing with it...

Can you really swing that thing? -uh, not in here though.

[ Oh Light. You say that like anything here is usual.

... Cloud actually does register that that might have another meaning, but really. It's obvious she means his sword, what else could she mean? And he's immediately annoyed by the comment because it's true. There's a narrow look before he focuses on the other virgin man. YOU ARE NOT WORTH TALKING TO ANYWAY, LIGHT Snow you are marginally more tolerable. For now. ]

How dumb do you think I am? I know what I'm doing. ...But, those gods did something. [ Thinking of something, he touches the materia in his bracer--colorful marbles right now. ] Or maybe this place is so lifeless, it's taking in energy.

[ Lightning narrowly avoids rolling her eyes. ]

So, you can't use it. [ Basically. And yet-- she pauses while she looks at Cloud, her frown turned a bit more thoughtful. ] Are you a l'Cie?

[ Yeah, she's definitely starting to already know better by now, that nobody else here seems to know what l'Cie are, but she has to ask anyway. It's what makes sense to her.

Not that it would necessarily make sense anyway, if that was supposed to be the explanation for why he was carrying such a stupid weapon. Advanced physical capabilities or not, it would be folly to try and learn something like that just because he'd been branded and could.

L'Cie are not designed to live for long. ]

Hey now. Maybe the gods did somethin' to his sword. It's not his fault. Right?

[Shrugging, Snow wanders closer to the stranger so he can get a better look at the sword. At least he hasn't reached out to actually touch it yet, but... hello, blondie. Have a much bigger and dumber blond now practically up in your personal bubble, staring at the giant slab of metal-on-a-stick with brightness in his ice-coloured eyes. Like a wide-eyed kid or something.]

You know what they did to it? Or, uh... y'know. What Lightning here said. Heh...

SOLDIER. [ It comes automatically. Also--jesus christ Snow not that close! Cloud would back up if he wasn't already against the wall. As it is he straightens up to his full menacing height of 5'7" (...the same as Light) and though Cloud's eyes are bright too that's not an excited kid look. More one calculating what level of bubble invasion necessitates a retaliatory strike. If he's a kid, he's a jumpy one. ] There's nothing special about the sword. It's well-made, but that's it. I'm what's different. SOLDIERs aren't ordinary fighters.

[ Oh, a military boy? ]

... Your AMP tech stopped working here, then.

[ That... actually makes more sense to Lightning, though of course she doesn't realize she's missing the mark again due to her inability to hear important terms being capitalized. Really, it's surprising she didn't think of AMP sooner though, considering her own equipment came in broken and... that would be a lot more common than suggesting someone's a l'Cie.

Time in the wilderness, following being a world-wide hated fugitive, must have a way of messing with your priorities. Who would have guessed? ]
