The one standing there apart from the crowd sketching what looks to be Japanese characters in the air, if you're that observant. ]

[There's no textbook reaction to being thrown into a world populated by gods and shadows and probably about the weirdest collection of people that Conan's ever seen before, but the girl's actions stand out enough that Conan pauses his own explorations to try and work out what she's doing.

It takes him some time, but even after he's worked it out, he's still not sure why.

Crossing the square to reach the girl, Conan asks:]

[ she might be vaguely surprised when she glances down at him, though it certainly isn't lasting very long before an even fainter smile replaces the expression. ]

Tracing characters to commemorate. You've very sharp eyes.

Haiku are best suited for capturing a single moment. And such a moment will not pass by again so easily.

[ a pause. ]

"Sing, whimsical heart, blossom in the wistful gloom, may your voice echo."

[Conan looks out once more at their surroundings. The grey is drab certainly -- but wistful? The people certainly have that quality -- I guess she's not bad.]
