So this game looks amazing and I'm so, incredibly stoked to app this weekend, I can't even tell you XD
I do have a suggestion/feedbacky comment though. I think, just due to the sheer size and amount of interest this game is generating, requiring that apps be posted piecemeal into comments could become very messy very quickly for both you guys as mods and for players.
So my suggestion/request is really to just allow for alternative submission formats or change it all together. I'm personally a fan of emailing apps in and having the mods vote on them in an app comm. I think is the most streamlined process. Alternatively, allowing players to post their apps on their own journals and linking directly to them in a comment, if you're set on them being public, might also be a good alternative.
I know you're all working hard to get these applications approved, and kudos to you for that! I think this game has really exceeded expectation in how much actual interest it's received.
I know a few people were rather anxious however, in making sure their application was actually in. In emails, I know (though I'm unsure how to do this) that you can set up an automated reply to emails-- like one you'd use if you were on vacation. Just a quick note that gets sent back instantly, letting people know their applications have made it and placating a few nerves. Most are already nervous enough, as is, by the application process itself.
Hopefully this will be useful to you all, rather than just a large block of text. I'm wishing you all the best for the upcoming week!
Just a small thing really (and I'm not even in the game (yet??) :P ) but I was thinking it might be a good idea for ic posts to be tagged something like !: [character name] instead of just [character name], so that it would show up first. I suppose it's really an aesthetic thing at the end of the day, but I like it when the character posting's tag is first instead of last.
Okay, I cant remember if I did this already or not, cause I meant to do it a few days ago. So if I'm repeating myself, I'm sorry!
It was about the taken list. I think the coding is gorgeous and it looks great. I was just thinking though that you guys may want to consider splitting up the alphabet into thirds or fourths and having multiple pages. My concern is, given the size of the game already and the growth that is inevitable in the future, you might cap out the pages' character limit very quickly with the coding and all the people that get in.
It'll probably make your lives easier if you go ahead and start out planning for growth rather than trying to convert/split up all the lists and codes later down the line.
That's all the cents I have to share at the moment! :)
I noticed someone else on my timeline getting into MD, where the mods ask players to pick two houses and then choose for them; and I know that at least one player in our very own modly plurk asked if she could do that.
The extended House descriptions help immensely, especially which Heimdall which I think was becoming the "default heroic guy" house, but asking players to offer up two top choices and then picking based on the character's personality sample seems like it could be a good way to go? Not too much more effort for you, and it would be fun for the players, I think. We like being 'sorted' with at least the dim sense of someone else's hand.
ANYWAY, just a thought. Loving the game so far and the first event! Thanks. ♥
A few people have indeed asked if we could do that. I know others feel better about making their own choices, but since we aren't sure what the majority thought is on this, we may throw up a poll before the next round and let the players as a whole tell us if they'd like that change to happen. It isn't any big trouble for us as mods, so we can probably go with the playerbase's preference on this one.

That's just my two cents :)
Super excited!
