The only issue I'll have is if the singing's bad, otherwise I think it's going to be amazing (and by "bad" I don't mean "different"; I mean "horrendously out of tune" or something similar). People don't seem to realize that sticking to the straight and narrow is sometimes boring.

The revival was amazing. I got to see it on broadway.

I can forgive people for not knowing RENT was a musical but to not know Phantom of the Opera was a musical is beyond me. Like you said, opera in the title. Some people are dumb.

Oh, and Moulin Rogue, I think, could be called "mainstream" but it was still "independent mainstream" and not a stage play to begin with so yeah.
