Paean to the Loas of the Interwebs

Someone somewhere, oh Internets, Dear Flist, NEEDS to teach me the icon mojo. Because first there was this. An ongoing hymn to the greatness that was the LoSH. Where the author digs deep and finds the inner fangirl for every. legionnaire. evar.

And despite the fact that I tried to ignore that Legion didn't actually stop after the Five Year Gap.(If ( Read more... )

I've never been a big Legion of Superheroes fan, personally, but yeah, that rocks. And also, I have no will power AT ALL when people want icons. It's very sad. (and you're under no obligation to use them)

OF COURSE I'LL USE THEM!!!!!!! OMGLADJBNAAN!!!!! YOU ROCK LIKE A TOTALLY ROCKIN THING YOU HARD CORE ROCKER YOU!!!!!!!!

AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!SQUUUUEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

Am *right now* committing atrocious unbetaed spur of the moment ficspam on rouge_slasher's LJ. It was going to contain some xander/graham cuz nobody ever does that anymore and well Bailey Chase = teh pretty, but now in your honor it will have to be Riley/Xander instead.

The first part is up and the rest should only take a couple more hours at my typeing speed. It's a Andromeda/Stargate/Buffy/Final Fantasy crackgasm and it's pretty bad but the silly people asked for inspiration, so it's their own fault.

I'll let you know where it's at once I get more parts up if you want.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Yay!!! And just so you know, I love Xander/Riley, but Xander/Graham is fine with me. 'Cause Bailey Chase is a whole lot of yum.

I fail at icons so badly - I have a very limited selection of them myself. But LoSH... oh I miss them. I miss them as grown up 30-somethings, and everything Giffen had done with them before yet another End Of Everything. SIgh. I've read some of the new versions, but I am so sick of the constant reinvention of them, and then the stories just finding new ways to work in their old histories. I HAVE ALREADY READ THAT PEOPLE! I am over it. I am only continuing with it at present because I am a sucker and the "Legion of Three Worlds" special coming up makes me wonder if I'm going to see my old friends again, and not these little baby imposters.

Humph.

I loved those guys. One of the things that made them so great for me was that they grew up. They weren't eternal fifteen year olds but actually became adults, and got married, and had relationship problems that made sense and more often than not had NOTHING AT ALL to do with the fact that they also fought crime ( ... )

rant away! I think you're mainly just channelling me anyway. Some bits of the five years later story I kind of liked (If I'm remembering correctly). I was in my thirties when it came out and it resonated with me. I liked that Dreamgirl had got plump but still had semi-clad boys trailing after her! I like the later stories with Chuck and um... triplicate girl?... being married. (I'm always losing track of real name/code name with these guys. So full of fail ( ... )

One of my favorite dream girl moments in that period was in the last bit before the reboot where Adult Legion had to remerge with Young Legion to reset the universe or whatever. Yound Dream Girl says something like, "I suppose you all think I should of seen this coming." and Adult Dream girls says something like, "Honey if you could have done that you'd have known to stay away from the carbohydrates too."

Marv's said in interviews that with Joey they were specifically going for a character who hit all the sensitive artist cliches of the period and specifically wasn't gay. That a guy could be gentle and artistic and still be straight. Which I can kinda see, cuz they were laying the Joey/Raven UST on kinda thick. And I'll allow that if they tell me which character they were going for masculine, confident and kicks ass but gay with.
