Some people had already made the parallel, and Kripke answered that yes, he was a fan of the Beat writers and had been very inspired by "On the Road" while creating Supernatural (they have a page on this in the SuperWiki ;) ).

I know right ?! trust me when I say that my mind just shut down for a moment when I began reading this book, and then when I did some research about the whole thing...
It's just insane how much it's accurately THEM. And I really wonder how much was intented by Kripke and Carver and co and how much was just coincidental in the way they played their roles etc...

This whole story is driving me crazy. Dammit.
