Just tell her the truth i guess. that it means to much to you and that you don't want it getting hurt :( like the dress has feelings. lol

Just tell her the truth. That it's a special dress to you and you wouldn't want to fault her if anything where to happen to it

I like their idea: just tell her you don't want anything to happen to it and you'd rather you mess it up accidently than her messing it up accidently. (And by the way, I remember your dress. Muy pretty!)
