Getting real

You know how we all love to be in denial about the things we *don't* want to change? I coach people to fitness and I lead people in the workplace - I can spot a vice for someone else a mile away. But man - it can be crazy difficult to let your OWN guard down and take a cold hard look in the mirror and ADMIT to your own addictions or habits that ( Read more... )

I'm super impressed by your posts - I can't wait until I get the go ahead from my Doctor to begin dieting and working out (lightly for now, as I still seem to have physical issues after the pregnancy). It's very inspiring! I've always had a problem comfort eating, I wish I could give that up. Now my issue is my husband who never seems to stop feeding me. It truly is a problem - my sister used to laugh and tell me I'm complaining about nothing, at least he cares and feeds me, and then she came over and he did the same thing to her and she looked at me and was like, "OMG. I understand what you're talking about now..." I just hope when the time comes, I'll be as disciplined (and honest about what i need to cut out) so that I can get back to my former glory.

I commend you!!!

I hear you about comfort eating.. I used to snack in the evenings and had such a hard time shutting it off! Hm, have you asked Hubby why? I'm sure it comes from a good place! Hopefully when you're ready though he will see new ways to support you with your goals!

You can do it!!! I grew up in a home where there was way too much drinking, and it had some sad effects, so I don't drink. BUT, I am with you on the Starbucks thing! I just gave myself yet another stern lecture this morning (after spending the $4.00 for the decaf latte) about how I don't need this, and what could I have done differently with the money, etc. I have been making big plans all day about how I will NOT stop for coffee tomorrow morning! Reading this has encouraged me to stick it out and resist the caffeine!!!

Aw yay - I am excited that I inspired you! You just made my day!!
Absolutely, those coffee's add up to so much $$ over time!! I realized one month I spent close to 300$ - not even kidding. That's horrible!!

A few months ago I added up all the money that we were spending eating out and at coffee shops...I was SOOO horrified. I am embarrassed to say to even say what the number was...but it was way more than $300. We've really cut back since then, but lately I've fallen back in to the coffee shop habit. BUT-I'm proud to announce that I didn't stop yesterday OR today! woohoo!

I hear you, totally. I think the sugar addiction (Starbucks) is in part b/c, as you've read/seen//shared, sugar really does affect our brains like a drug and makes us want/need more. Isn't it crazy thinking about how addiction really does wreak havoc in our lives? I have also been thankful that I never had an addiction to alcohol and never did drugs, because I have definitely noticed addiction in other forms in my life as well.

How is it going so far for you?

It could be the sugar! Though the one I order doesn't have a ton, it still has a bit. My last Starbucks was Saturday June 6th so I am on day 6! My last beer was Sunday at Darrens parents house! Two wins that stick out so far ( ... )
