Tidying and budgeting..I had to do a doubletake and remind myself I didn't meet you on the YNAB forums! There's been a lot of talk there about KonMari tidying and of course it's ALL about the budget and money saving stuff. Awesome awesome community. If you haven't implemented YNAB for your budget plan, I highly recommend it (and happy to give a referral code fr 10% off!)

Yes! You could potentially use the methodology with a spreadsheet like Excel, but the reconciling accounts and app feature (as well as aesthetics) make the software worth the money, IMHO. You can try the software free for 34 days, they have free webinars (opportunity to win a free copy of the software!) as well as a bunch of tutorial videos. The software honestly looks super simple, and I initially thought I didn't need the webinars, just attended to try winning free copy, but I learned a lot more than I expected. The method is different than people expect (only budgeting money you have, not what you expect to make). It took me a few months to fully trust it, but especially for my business, it is SO empowering. I refer clients to it for "money therapy", it makes such a big difference.
the forums are also great, lots of supportive people, I'm kind of addicted and spend more time there than I do on LJ anymore. They talk a LOT about Dave Ramsey, and the two fit together well, from what I understand. YNAB facilitates the process.
