I love Heroes, I truly do. I adore it in fact! But as a current resident of Cork, Ireland, with a perfectly good Irish accent, I find the three Irish gangsters on Heroes cringe-worthy ( Read more... )

Yeah. And it is so much worse when it's your own accent that's getting mangled because every single time they are showing a scene in Ireland, I'm cringing. Seriously, believe nothing. We do not sound like that and it's the Italians with the tradition of blood feuds not us!!

Also, guns? Not allowed. Our police force is unarmed. Sidearms are hard to come by. And if they wanted a gangster town, they should have picked Limerick instead of Cork. Limerick is where you can get shot if you walk into the wrong area.

If you wanna hear the real deal, google the comedian Tommy Tiernan on Youtube. His accent is quite strong but far, far better - and actually real - than GI Paddy on Heroes. Or Cate Blanchett's accent in Veronica Guerin. She had it pretty much perfect.
