I inherently know not to shop at Walmart, and I avoid Fred Meyer as well. in fact: I almost exclusively shop at Trader Joe's and New Seasons. but it's been a while since I've read up on it and I can't even remember the specific reasons why I don't shop at Fred Meyer, so I decided to do a bit of homework.

yes- the packaging issue at Trader Joe's bugs me a LOT and I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned on this site.

and yes- rice and beans are cheap. : )

F: second to last in the ranking, Fs on health/safety/ethics, 'red' for 'poor environmental and social responsibility records'. the most concerning thing I read about them is that 'genetically altered modified food is not labeled'.
