There's probably a rollover clause in the contract somewhere. Most broadband things have that, I believe--unless you actively cancel, it won't.

Not in this case. The contract is due to end may, they extended it to october without permission. For obvious reaons I won't go into on a public post, I know exactly how the contract works, and they added 5 months without permission.

Yes, I expect someone gets a bonus for re-signs. In theory they should record all the calls and can check if anyone you spoke to got you to agree to it, so if you politely stick to your guns you can almost certainly get out of it.

Get on to OfCom and thence to BT's complaints team. It's the only way I ever got anything fixed with BT, I'm afraid.
