Good times in the Czech Republic.

Well here's my update on spring break. It will most likely take a while to get the pictures on photobucket, but here's what went down. All pictures and videos promised for the two week concert extravaganza, will be posted ASAP. OK well it's behind the cut

Friday: Got to Prague around 10:30pm their time. It was snowing, and Valia and I couldn't find a taxi. Finally got a taxi to find out the guy spoke zero english, not that he should speak English because I was in his country. Anyways, frantically looked up how to say "How much?" in Czech in my phrase book. Valia is originally from Bulgaria, so luckily she knew the numbers. We got to the hotel by the grace of god. I would have to say we were in one of the rougher neighborhoods., the sex shop across the street and casinos at every corner pretty much suggested that. The hotel was really nice though, and we had a big room. I was so happy to have a tv because I don't have one here at uni. Too bad we didnt get any english stations other than BBC and CNN. I watched a shit ton of Czech tv, and lots of videos. Apparently, Limp Bizcut is still pretty big there. HIM is also a Czech favorite.

Saturday: Didn't get out of bed until like 3pm, finals week had been so rough, I needed it. Valia and I went to go scope out some food and a telephone to call the parentals. Yeah, one phone call cost $42. Insanity.

Sunday: We went into Old Town in the center of Prague. It was my favorite place in Prague. We both got lots of souvenirs, and went into a Sex Machine Museum. All of the stuff looked insanely painful, and not fun or enjoyable at all. Why did he chastity belts have spikes?! OUCHHHHHHH. They also had a lot of old, er historic, sex stuff, but then they had all this crazy fetish stuff. It was an experience. I'll say that. Later that day we went on a Ghost tour because Prague reportedly the most haunted city. It was really interesting, and the most beautiful boy was on the tour as well. Valia saw him and was like he's from like Sweden or something. I was all like "no way, he's british." I won, as I can spot them miles away. Whatever shop we went into, people immediately spoke to me in English. I must really look like I come from an English speaking country, as they didn't do it to anyone else. Also that day I was hit on by some strange Turkish man, and some other guy called me princess. This led to Valia calling me princess for the rest of the week. Went back to the hotel to some crazy German music videos.

Monday: We went on a 6 hour tour of Prague. We went to the Jewish Ghetto, Old Tour, New Tour, Wenceslas Square and Prague Castle. It was a great tour, but I was so exhausted afterwards. I'm pretty sure we just ended up going back to the hotel after.

Tuesday: Did a bit more shopping. Valia went on another tour, but I was done with those, so I went to go see the Charles Bridge. It was really beautiful and I took like 140 pictures of just the bridge. Went back to the hotel and packed up for part dos of spring break.

Wednesday: Well, we were supposed to get a wake-up call at 7:30am, to make a 10am bus for Cesky Krumlov. That call never happened. Woke up at 9:10am to a call saying that the taxi was there. I was like wtf? wake up call? Apparently, someone "forgot". I adored getting all my shit together and dressed in 20 minutes to make the damn bus. We got the bus, and it took three hours to get to Cesky Krumlov. Got there, could not find a taxi ANYWHERE. Called a taxi place, but they didn't speak english, so no luck. We had to drag our huge ass bags up icy hills, and down cobblestone roads. This is not an experience I would want to have again. Eventually after and hour and a half of being pretty lost, we found a tourist place and they called us a cab. We got to our hotel, and it was very nice. The Czech Republic is known for it's crystal, so there were chandeliers (sp?!) everywhere, and they were all sparkly and pretty. Cesky krumlov is a pretty well preserved medieval city, so basically is was creepy as hell, and everything closed at 6pm. They always had bells going off somewhere, and it sounded so pretttty.

Thursday: Walked about the city, did a little shopping. Went back to the hotel room, watched loads of music videos. There is a german band called Tokio hotel, and they played them all the time. The band members look about 12 trying to be hardcore. Hysterical. That night we pretty much lost electricity. Which only helped to add into the creepy effect. Valia's camera charger like melted, which kind of sent her into a rampage. She was so funny about it though. "My camera's broken, I don't want to hear any more damn German, I hate medieval cities, this place is friggin scary, there's no shower [only had a bath with a hand-held sprayer] and we can't even take a shit!" We had run out of toliet paper earlier in the night, but we had tissues. The last bit was what sent me into absolute hysterics just because it was oh so classy and I'm tres immature.

Friday: Asked for a wake up call, which was received an hour late because the woman did not known the difference between 8 and 9. Ended up just going back to bed because we couldnt make a tour. Went back into town, more wandering. I bought an alarm clock because we could not miss the train the next day.

Saturday: This was the travelling day from hell. Woke up at 7:30, had to take a taxi to the train station in Cesky Krumlov. Had to take a train from Cesky Krumlov to Cesky Budejovice, and then get a train from there to Prague. Mind you, this whole time we're dragging luggage. From the train station in Prague, we needed to get a taxi. Ended up in the scariest taxi ever. The guy didnt speak at all, and drove through really rural areas. I thought for sure, he wasnt taking us to the airport, but was going to kill us. Valia had a pen in her hand ready to attack Red-eye style if need be. Actually got to the airport, and had a four hour wait there. Got on the plane, got to London Gatwick. Gatwick bites, it is so far from richmond. Had to take the Gatwick express to Victoria, then had to get on the London tube/ district Line to Richmond. Then at Richmond we got a taxi to the campus. I was exhausted after about 14 hours of travelling.

SO that was spring break. Overall, a good time. I would suggest the Czech republic when it was a bit warmer, but Prague is a gorgeous city.

Pictures later!

Now off to do some homework! yayyy
