So we still don't really have a clue what to name Batgirl. Chris has a name or two he really likes but which I'm more "Hmmmmm" about, I have a name or two I like but he's more "Eh" about...with Robin I was always sure I wanted her to be Robin, even though I kept that to myself, so it wasn't anything like as difficult ( Read more... )

Yes, yes, we knew that one. We already went through and nixed all Batman related names, though, they just don't appeal to us!

Though I'm sure she'd make a lovely Alfred.

Well, I think you've exhausted the bird name options with Robin, so how about a plant name?

Rose, Violet, Daisy, Hazel, Holly, Heather, Ivy, Jasmine or Poppy?

In no particular order, from both of us: Katherine, Zoe, Kira, Amy, Mari, Kay.

Zoe and Kira are both sort of Greek. How do you feel about Helen and Irene? (Other Byzantine names that you probably don't think of as Byzantine are Melissa, Patricia, and Sylvia, but you don't seem as into the names ending in -a.)

Alternatively, maybe something that shortens to Kit? I think traditionally Kit's a nickname for Katherine (as well as Christopher, naturally), but I like it as a nickname for Kirsten or Kristen, too.

I have family named Melissa, Patricia, Patrick, Sylvie, and Katharine ... clearly we're more Byzantine than we think!

(Our Sylvie is actually a Sylvester, named after my grandmother from the days before Sylvester was most widely known as a man's name. I have a cousin Sylvester Grace and a sister Katharine Sylvester, so it's embedded in the family :D My favourite part about it is that Sylvie is the most elfin little girl I have ever met, the name is so appropriate.)

I am fond of names like Hope and Joy and Grace just because they're pretty.

Or you could name her Shrek. There's always Shrek.
