Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Raising Akame
Chapter 3: Fourteen and Sixteen
“Jin! Telephone!” Jin excitedly bounded downstairs. “It's your girlfriend, Rina.”
Jin halted and lost his smile. He took the phone from his mother and flatly greeted his caller 'hello'.
Later, Mrs. Akanishi found her eldest lying spread-eagled on his bed, staring blankly on the ceiling while the stereo blared with deafening rock music. This had been a common sight for the last month and it was annoying her. She pulled off the stereo plug and it was suddenly quiet.
“Jin,” Mrs. Akanishi called but Jin remained motionless. “Jin!”
“Don't shout. I can hear you,” Jin mumbled.
“Oh, I thought you've gone deaf,” Mrs. Akanishi said sarcastically. Jin smirked. “Are you okay? Did you and Rina had a fight?”
“No. She just called, didn't she?” Jin replied, his voice unable to hide his annoyance. Mrs. Akanishi frowned. She couldn't understand why Jin seemed disappointed if it was his girlfriend who just called and that they didn't have a fight. She sighed and shook her head. She wondered if she was as confused and confusing when she was 16 as Jin is now. The dark-haired, strong-boned woman sighed again and turned to leave. “By the way, Kamenashi-chan called...”
Jin suddenly sat up. “Kazuya? When? Why didn't you call me?”
Mrs. Akanishi fought hard not to smile. So that's what's bothering her son. “The mother Kamenashi. We're going to an onsen. You want to come?” Jin scoffed and fell back on the bed. “I don't know what's wrong with you. But maybe an onsen would do you good.”
Jin scoffed again. “Nothing's wrong with me. And even if there is, an onsen sure wouldn't help.”
Mrs. Akanishi sighed. “It can help you relax.”
“I am relaxed,” Jin insisted.
“You're not relaxed. You're catatonic.” She had been warned about teen-age kids. Still, no amount of warning could ever prepare a mother to deal with such brats.
“I don't wanna go to an onsen. I wouldn't be caught dead in an onsen with my mother,” said Jin. He didn't want to go to an onsen. He had been down on the dumps lately and he doesn't know why. He just wanted to stay that way on his bed forever. He wanted the loud music to invade his mind to keep him from thinking. And when he tires, he'd sleep for hours on end.
“Kazuya had always been nicer,” Mrs. Akanishi mumbled and turned to walk away.
“Wait!” Jin exclaimed, sitting up again. “What did you say?”
“I said Kazuya had always been nicer.”
“What do you mean?”
“It doesn't matter,” the woman said. “You stay here and listen to your music until your head explodes. The three of us will relax and have fun at the onsen.”
♥
Mrs. Akanishi bit back the smile on her lips when she saw her son waiting by the car with a knapsack. “You going somewhere?”
“You asked me to go to an onsen, remember?” Jin answered, without looking at her.
“I thought you wouldn't be caught dead in an onsen with me,” Mrs. Akanishi taunted.
“I can be nice, too, you know,” Jin grumbled.
Mrs. Akanishi chuckled, thinking, no matter how gruff and tough Jin acts, in reality, he was easy.
♥
Mrs. Akanishi fought hard not to sit on her son. All through out their trip, Jin kept fidgeting. Several times, she threatened to push him out of the car if he won't sit still. And as they wait by the lobby for the Kamenashis, every so often, Jin would jump up from his seat, walk around then plop down again.
“Jin, you're making me dizzy,” Mrs. Akanishi said.
“Don't watch me,” was her son's reply.
“How can I not watch you? You might as well do cartwheels in front of me.” She was expecting a smart retort from her son but nothing came. And she knew the Kamenashis had arrived.
Mrs. Akanishi turned and saw her old friend - lithe and slim as always - smiling sweetly and walking gracefully towards her. Right behind her - lithe and slim like the mother - trailed Kazuya. It just struck Mrs. Akanishi how mother and son looked so much alike. She surreptitiously threw a glance towards Jin. Her son stood still, staring at the approaching woman and boy.
Mrs. Akanishi noted that Kazuya's steps faltered for a few seconds as soon as he saw her. When the younger boy saw Jin, his face turned from warm and smiling to cold and frowning.
Jin's mother bowed at Mrs. Kamenashi then hugged her then turned to Kazuya and gave the boy her trademark bearhug. She only lets go when she heard the boy grunt. She cupped his face and said, “You look so pretty!” Kazuya was horrified at the comment and it showed on his face but Mrs. Akanishi was not the least bit affected. “Say hi to Jin.”
Kazuya hesitated then mumbled a barely audible “Hi.”
Mrs. Akanishi realized her son had turned from a blazing twister to a frozen statue. “Okay, let's go to our room.”
“Room?” Kazuya asked, turning to his mother.
“I told you we were staying overnight,” Mrs. Kamenashi said.
“No, you didn't,” Kazuya protested.
“Yes, I did.”
“I didn't pack clothes.”
“I packed your pajamas.” Mrs. Kamenashi bowed as an attendant handed them their yukatas.
As they followed the attendant, Mrs. Akanishi kept smiling. Her friend may be gentle and soft-spoken but is definitely a sly one. Just the kind of mother a nice yet stubborn boy like Kazuya needs.
♥
After their baths, while having dinner in their shared room, Kazuya remained quiet. The women were huddled close and were caught up in their discussion of everything and anything under the sun. Noting this, Jin would throw bits of food at Kazuya, earning him a sharp glare from the younger boy. Half-way through their meal, when a pickled plum landed on Kazuya's shirt then dropped on his lap to join the bits and pieces of rice and nori there, Kazuya could not help but exclaim, “Oka-asan!”
The two women stopped talking. “What?” Mrs. Kamenashi asked. Kazuya wanted so much to tell on Jin's juvenile behavior but he knew Jin would only taunt him for being a tattler. Kazuya simply fumed.
But Mrs. Akanishi wasn't as oblivious as her son thought she was. “Jin, are you twelve? Stop throwing food at Kazuya.”
“I didn't...” Jin started to protest.
“You didn't what?” The dark-haired woman coldly stared at her son. “Half of your meal is on Kazuya's lap.” She then turned to Kazuya. “Gomen, ne. Pardon Jin. I must have dropped him on his head when he was a baby.”
Mrs. Kamenashi watched her son continue to sulk. At the pretense of helping him clean up the mess on his lap, Mrs. Kamenashi leaned towards the boy and with the sweetest smile, whispered, “Stop sulking, Kamenashi Kazuya. You're getting on my nerves.” Kazuya immediately stopped frowning. As Mrs. Kamensahi drew back, she smiled wider and without losing beat, turned to Jin and asked, “So...how's school, Jin?”
“S'okay,” Jin answered, oblivious to the exchange between the other mother and son. “I play soccer.” He popped a rice ball in his mouth.
“That's nice. A good-looking soccer player...you must be popular.”
Jin, with mouth full, grinned.
“Jin's got a girlfriend,” Mrs. Akanishi offered and Jin choked on the rice ball.
“Really?” Mrs. Kamenashi said, then turning to her son, asked, “Did you know this, Kazu?” Her son nodded stiffly, head bowed and trying hard not to frown at his dinner. “That's really nice, Jin. Is she pretty?”
Jin saw Kazuya briefly cast an icy look towards Mrs. Kamenashi. He's jealous? Jin thought and he smiled.
“What does she look like?” Mrs. Kamenashi asked.
“Huh? Look like? ” Jin asked absent-mindedly, taking delight in eyeing the silently seething Kazuya. “She's ...” he started. “She's slim with straight short brown hair, real nice cheekbones and eyes round and brown like ...” Jin turned and found himself staring into Mrs. Kamenashi 's eyes. “... like yours, oba-asan.”
Mrs. Akanishi frowned. She had seen Rina and she is nowhere near what Jin just described. “Rina's kinda' plump with round face and long wavy hair,” she said. Jin didn't answer, looking lost. “Anyway...Kazuya, do you have a girlfriend?”
Kazuya shook his head, eyes still glued to his food as if daring it to attack him. But his head snapped up when he heard his mother suddenly blurt, “He's got a boyfriend.”
“I do not!” Kazuya protested. Jin looked shocked.
Mrs. Kamenashi chuckled. “Well Koki's a boy and he's your friend,” she teased, eyes glinting. “And he does hang around you a lot.”
Jin recovering from the shock and realizing Mrs. Kamenashi was just teasing, asked, “You've got a boyfriend?”
Jin sounded amused and it annoyed Kazuya. “Koki's not my boyfriend. He's just my best friend.”
Jin lost the amused smile. Best friend? Kazuya's got another best friend? Jin took a deep breath. He's 16 years old and he's popular in school and he has a girlfriend. What does it matter that a scrawny 14-year old boy no longer considers him best friend? It shouldn't. It doesn't.
Mrs. Akanishi saw how her son's expression flitted from surprised to hurt to angry then feigned indifference in a matter of seconds. She turned to the other woman in the room. “There's a bar somewhere here. Want to go for a drink?”
After changing from their yukatas and the women headed for a bar. On their way, Mrs. Kamenashi worriedly said, “Kazuya's been pretty gloomy these past few weeks.”
Mrs. Akanishi nodded. “Jin's been weird.” Then added, “More than usual.”
“Did you notice they haven't been burning the phone lines lately?” Mrs. Kamenashi asked. She had gotten used to her son and Jin talking over the phone for hours on end. Lately, though, Kazuya would often refuse to take Jin's calls; saying he's in the middle of something and would just call back. But he won't. When later his excuse had run thin and was forced to take the calls, Mrs. Kamenashi could hear her son talking in short clipped replies.
Mrs. Akanishi nodded. “Well, it's pretty odd that my Jin isn't as giddy as I expected for someone who just had a girlfriend.”
Mrs. Kamenashi nodded. “Kazuya's quite a pain whenever he and Jin are fighting. You think, they'd make up?”
Mrs. Akanishi shrugged. “It's their call. They can make up or kill each other. Their choice.”
Mrs. Kamenashi was thoughtful. “What if they kill each other?”
Mrs. Akanishi shrugged again. “I still have Reio. You have three other sons.” The other mother pouted. She chuckled. “You are so like Kazuya.”
“You are so like Jin.” She, too, laughed.
♥
Jin was sitting on one of the futons laid out inside their room when Kazuya came back from changing into his pajamas. Kazuya remained by the door.
Noticing the younger boy, standing stiffly by the door and scowling, Jin asked, “What are you doing standing there for?”
“I just want to,” Kazuya grumbled.
Jin smirked, irritated at the 14-year old's snippy attitude. “You're such a baby, Kazu.”
“I'm not a baby!”
“Baby Ka-kun!” Jin teased. Kazuya silently seethed. Knowing he won, Jin stood up. “Let me tuck you to bed.”
The scowl on Kazuya's face turned to an expression of dread when Jin approached him. He tried to step back but his back was already against the door. With their faces a few inches away, Jin murmured, “Baby Ka-kun.” When Jin tried to close the gap between them, Kazuya turned his face away and blocked Jin's face with his hands. Then he ducked and managed to get away. Having maneuvered himself successfully, he then pressed Jin's face against the door. “Jerk!”
“Aaaw!” Jin cried out. He turned, face flushed in anger for being outmaneuvered by a smaller boy. “So you want to play rough, Baby Ka-kun...” He advanced towards the retreating Kazuya.
The latter, walking backwards, tripped on Jin's bag and fell on the futon. Jin took the opportunity to pounce on the younger boy, pinning both hands above the head. Kazuya tried to wriggle free but Jin positioned himself between Kazuya's legs, rendering the boy's limbs useless even as he continues to flail.
“Let me go, jerk!”
Jin grinned. “Are you jealous of my girlfriend?” he teased.
Kazuya, taken aback by the accusation, stopped moving. “No, I am not!” he shouted. “Let me go!” He tried to free himself from Jin again.
“You are, aren't you?”
Kazuya kept wriggling and, in so doing, unconsciously and repeatedly rubs himself against Jin.
But Jin was not unconscious of it at all. On the contrary, he was very conscious of it. “Kazuya, stop moving,” Jin hissed. But Kazuya won't stop. Jin felt something he was only supposed to feel when he is with his girlfriend. He pulls down Kazuya's arms and pinned it behind the younger boy's back. “Stop or I'll kiss you.” Kazuya suddenly froze. Jin lowered his face until the tips of their noses almost touched. “Admit it, Kazu. You were mad at me because of Rina.”
Kazuya's eyes widened. “Why would I? I don't care about you!”
"You're jealous,” Jin insisted, bent on teasing Kazuya.
“No way! You're ugly!”
Jin scoffed. “If you think I'm ugly, then why do you have this,” he said, leering. Kazuya gasped when he felt Jin's crotch grind against a hard-on he didn't even realize he had.
“No! Stop!” Kazuya cried. He tried to get up even as he could not explain why his young body suddenly felt weak and raw.
Jin was just teasing Kazuya. They way he always did because it was fun for him to annoy the younger boy. He was just teasing because Kazuya had been such a brat since he got himself a girlfriend. He was just teasing Kazuya. But the moment his lips touched Kazuya's, he knew he was no longer teasing.
Jin was no longer teasing, Kazuya felt. It was no longer the chaste and innocent kiss they last shared. It started awkward - closed lips against closed lips. Then Jin parted his lips and Kazuya felt like Jin wanted to swallow his mouth. He had never kissed that way before. He didn't know how to respond. He wasn't supposed to respond, in the first place. But he found himself wanting to. He kept his mouth shut until he felt Jin's tongue prod between his lips. He parted them slightly. When Jin's tongue slid inside his mouth, he felt tingly all over. He completely forgot he was struggling to get free. He closed his eyes and found himself responding.
Soon their lips and their tongues somehow found rhythm - giving, receiving, entwining. It felt weird yet good, Kazuya thought.
It felt different, Jin thought. Different than kissing his girlfriend. Oddly enough, Kazuya would always flittingly cross his mind whenever he kissed his girlfriend. Now that he is kissing Kazuya, he couldn't even remember his girlfriend's name. He got hard whenever he kissed a girl. But kissing Kazuya that way, Jin felt it was more than his body reacting. He felt something in him he couldn't explain nor restrain.
A sound escaped Kazuya's mouth when Jin's lips left trailed down from his lips to his jaw to his neck. He didn't know where the sound came from or why he couldn't stop himself from making it. Jin's hands no longer restrained his arms but he found he was rendered more motionless when same hands roved his body. He made another sound when one hand slid up under his shirt. He gasped and his body stiffened, when the other hand slid down under his pajama bottoms and closed around him.
“It's okay. I got you,” Jin rasped. He wanted to sound soothing but he couldn't hide the rawness in his voice.
“No...” Kazuya whimpered but his own body betrayed him. The blood in his veins seemed to flow in waves and his body moved accordingly. “Sto...,” he started but the last letter was lost in a moan.
A young boy of fourteen need no further stimulation. A brief moment of lips sucking at his earlobe and a hand thumbing at a nipple, made the few strokes more enough to push Kazuya off the edge. His thin young body spasmed and a groan of pleasure escaped his throat.
Even before Kazuya could recover, Jin took the younger boy's hand and wrapped it around his own hard erection. With his hand on Kazuya's hand, he guided the younger boy in pleasuring him. He gripped Kazuya's hand to tighten some more and quickened the strokes. Once more, he crushed his lips against Kazuya's. Muffling his cry as, he, too, came.
End of Chapter 3
A/N: This is kinda' embarrassing for me because it's the first time I'm posting an R on the comm. More so because neither Kame nor Jin are even 17 years old here. Forgive me for corrupting young Akame but I just had to.
