Goals update, end of July

Aug 01, 2011 11:42

Once again, it's definitely hit-or-miss.

HOUSE
- have no started-but-not-finished projects by Thanksgiving 2011
Mmm, not so sure if I'm going to hit this one, though I guess there's still almost 4 months left. We'll see.

- maintain a list of todo's, and work on at least one every week (forward progress, not necessarily finished). Track via googledocs
Despite there being some other priorities this month, I did manage a couple of things:
*pick out/buy/assemble side talbe for the living room
*look at art prints for the living room (didn't buy any)
*picked out/ordered/assembled coffee table for den - still undecided if we like it well enough to keep
*made and hung curtain panels in downstairs bathroom
*measured for built-ins in the closet, shopped online to see what commercial options are, discussed with J

Plus, J made some progress (basically without me) on the closet in his office: picked out doors, installed/stained them, picked out shelving and installed most of it, bought the trim and installed most of it. Woo!

- remove two units of "extra stuff" from the house each month (where unit roughly equates to a 13 gal trash bag/bankers box/equivalent). Track for entire year.
Having a monthly target here is really keeping me moving. July was 8 more "units" (2 bags of construction debris, 3 piece luggage set, 1 bag of clothes/small misc, 1 bag of sheets/blankets, old vacuum cleaner). Running total is at 48 now! (January - 9, February - 2, March - 5, April - 3, May - 3, June - 18, July 8).

HOBBIES
- Sew enough clothes that 1/3 of wardrobe is self-made (or significantly altered)
In July I finished: 2 knit tops, 1 "golf" shirt, 1 pr capris, 1 pr cotton pants. I think I finally have a pants pattern I'm happy with, whooohoo! I just placed an order for some more fabric, so I'd better get cracking on what I already have, LOL.

- Start golfing consistently at/below 45/side
mm, not so sure about this one. Between the weather and Other Stuff, I think I only golfed 2-3 times in July. Maybe August will be better?

MISC
- Replace Jason's car, with no loan
So far, so good. We're coming up on the time of year when we planned to start shopping, so it will just depend on when we have time to go, and J makes some decisions about what he wants, yadda yadda.

- Add one good habit/month. Track with daily calendar/stars. July's habit was to two nights/week for "deep cleaning" & 30 minutes forward momentum on tasks on the "house projects" list.
I've tried adding a regular "deep cleaning" night to the schedule, and the habit just never sticks. This attempt was no different. Oh well. August's habit: go home for lunch every day. Saves some money, more likely to be healthy food, and more likely to do make some minor progress on a sewing project/book/chores/whatever with those little windows of time.
