Goals Update, end of November

Nov 30, 2011 11:36

Where in the world did this year go? Yeeash.

HOUSE
- have no started-but-not-finished projects by Thanksgiving 2011
Thanksgiving has come and gone, and I can honestly say this was a lot closer than I ever thought it would be, and there were even a number of "new" projects that got started and finished. There are only 2 "started-but-not-finished" projects out there now: moving the washer and dryer to the first floor bath, and the trim/built-ins in my sewing room (basically just needs some paint and cushions made). WOO! I'm feeling a lot less stressed about the remaining projects/tasks, because there isn't that overwhelming sense of "300 balls in the air at once". DOUBLE WOO!

- maintain a list of todos, and work on at least one every week (forward progress, not necessarily finished). Track via googledocs.
Hello, flurry of pre-family-visit productivity! How nice of you to bring your friend "extra days off work for Jason". Awesomeness ensued, with the big stuff being mostly Jason (and a little help from me, hah).
* painted kitchen ceiling
* picked out and installed new undercabinet lights in the kitchen (something that wasn't even on my list!)
* new kitchen backsplash (old one removed, new one installed, grouted, etc) - also an "add on"
* new living room lamp
* new side table for the den - that Jason BUILT!
* shade on the pendant light in the library
* touched up paint on downstairs bath walls and ceiling
* designed, built, installed, stained built-in trim/shelves in the sewing room
* re-painted trim in upstairs bath; touched up wallpaint as a result

- remove two units of "extra stuff" from the house each month (where unit roughly equates to a 13 gal trash bag/bankers box/equivalent). Track for entire year.
Jason went on a basement cleaning binge, reconfiguring to support his revived woodworking hobby. Once again, awesomeness ensued. This month was 19 units! (Wood scraps - 7, Extra fabric/scraps - 2, old light fixtures - 2, clothes/shoes/misc - 2, DVD rack, bookcase, table/lamp/combo thing, old stereo, office chair, closet rug). Running total: 81. (January - 9, February - 2, March - 5, April - 3, May - 3, June - 18, July - 8, August - 6, September - 5, October - 3, November - 19). Huh, 100 by the new year? Doubt it.

HOBBIES
- Sew enough clothes that 1/3 of wardrobe is self-made (or significantly altered)
Jeans! Successful jeans! Oh, right, the list. Corduroy pants, jeans, a thin knit cardigan, 2 knit tops (plus 2 in progress that should get finished up within the next few days). Haven't done any counting of garments to know if I'm at the 1/3 mark, but it's probably close.

- Start golfing consistently at/below 45/side
Golf? what's that?

MISC
- Replace Jason's car, with no loan
Yeah, we'll see if the latest round of minor repairs encourages him to go car shopping, hah! I think he's secretly waiting for the "car fund" to accumulate a bit more so he can go for a much nicer car. I'm onto him.

- Add one good habit/month. Track with daily calendar/stars. November: 5 minute pickup and designed project progress time.
As expected, that all did help with the holiday prep. The amount of house project progress - going on until the last possible minute - hindered the "deep cleaning in advance" thing, but, eh. I'm happy to have stuff done. Given the already ludicrious nature of my December calendar (both work and personal), the only reasonable daily goal is "do something nice/enjoyable/relaxing" every day. Because I'm going to need it.
