Thanks for the feedback, ladies! I'm so bad at picking out toys, but the ipod mini seems to be the way to go. Then again, I'm so out of the techno. loop that the mini could be considered old school by now.
About the colour... I'm torn. The white has the whole getting dirty factor and pink is just out of the question now haha.

CLEAN and classic.... and if you ever want to match it to your outfit (ew) you can always get a cover.
